Guest guest
I don't know who wrote this. But FM was well known in the 1980's as a legit disease under Arthritis. Many support groups and they were all connected to the National support group that is now in Arizona, run by Thorsen. They started in Bakersfield California, and they have been to thousands of medical conferences in the last 20 some years educating doctors on Fibro. I have many articles that talk about FM or Fibrositis as it was called until 1985. I went to the main Lupus Support groups in 1985 and learned about fibrositis/fibromyalgia from a medical doctor who was touring the country from NIH. There was Primary Fibro and Secondary Fibro. I still have the flyer and I have the support group's number in my file cabinet. Fibromyalgia doctors actually came to Washington DC in 1994, to speak on how to treat patients who have a disease process with out definitive blood or other medical results. In fact these FM doctors told the CFS doctors in Washington DC (Bell, Klimas, Hyde, Shelekov,Goldstein, , and many other CFS " experts " , that they were really not serving the patient by giving them the diagnosis of CFS and then saying take this anti-depressant there is nothing we can do to help you. It is on record in Freedom of information. I was there. meghan > > We've Come a Long Way, Baby! www.about.com > > Then...: Seeing a casual mention of fibromyalgia in a national > magazine recently caused me to reflect upon just how far we have > come in the past 10 years. When I was first diagnosed in 1996, it was challenging to find any information about fibromyalgia (FM). And much of what little I did find, we now know to be incorrect.
