I don't know anything about your Rheumy, but I'll tell you what my

experience was. I didn't know at first what he was doing, but it turned out

that his way to control RA was to watch blood levels. That made a lot of

sense because it takes close monitoring to keep from damage caused by the

meds. When one of my tests was just a point higher than 'normal', he would

simply take away any med that might cause that, and not pursue it any more.

He upped my MTX to the max injected and took away my anti-inflammatories.

When he did that, he didn't follow through, and gave me no advice or

optional meds. I was only taking 1 mg Folic Acid per day, and he should have

upped it due to my complaints, but I got the answer here on the group. I

called and spoke to his nurse, and she said, " of course you need to raise

the Folic Acid " . There was no concern at all. The strongest pain med he

would prescribe was Ultram. My New-Old Rheumy put me on MS Contin for pain

and Lodine for the anti-inflammatory, and I'm much better since then.

I'm not saying it will happen, but that you and your husband need to know

what's going on in his treatment. I'm sure some of us can offer advice when

you need it. Just ask away and someone will pipe up.

Hi , I too take Methotrexate and once when my rheumy increased the

amount I take from 12.5mg per week to 15mg per week my liver enzymes elevated

and I had to go back to the 12.5mg per week. That amount seems to work for me

without elevating my liver enzymes. Everyone is different and the dosage of

what one can tolerate is different as well for everyone. Your husbands rheumy

is on the ball and more than likely he will test your husbands liver enzymes

again. Hugs

husband was doing so much better and began to go to his rhuemmy once

has to go off of his methotrexate for two weeks and go back because

his blood work shows elevations in his liver. Could anyone be of some

help to this and tell me their experience or what might be going on.

Thanks in advance,
