Guest guest
Absolutely! Make sure they are monitoring your hands atleast twice a year if they are already drifting and bending. I have an appointment on August 7th for my consult to get my ulnar drift fixed as they braces did not help. To look at my fingers, it just appears weird but oh how they ache! My pinky is at a constant 45 degree deviation and can bend it easily so it lines up next to my hand knuckles. Ask what exercises you can do to keep them from drifting. One of the exercises I was orginally told was to put my hand flat and walk my fingers in the opposite direction of my drift. Make sure as well that you exercise your wrists. My left hand only moves about 20 degrees in one direction, the other is slightly better at 30 degrees. If wrist replacement was more practical I would have that done just to move my wrists. Sometimes I just wish I could press hard enough to break them so the darn things would move! Shandi [ ] finger bending Thanks Jan and Shandi - that is good to know about the splints- I am very early on with just a little bending and doc says if it swells or anything then they will do something and it is good to know about that if the time comes Jean --------------------------------- Try the all-new . Guest guest
I'm so sorry to hear this about your hands, June. What did your surgeon say? That's also horrible about your eye. Was it decided that the ill-fitting oxygen mask was to blame? Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Hi , the ortho is scheduling me for early January and he will fuse my wrist, repair/replace tendons etc. It is day surgery. Yes, my eye doctor cannot come up with any other explanation for the damage. At some time I will need an implant but he is hoping the treatment he is using on me will buy me some more time. Since I am able to do the examinations for the med students without having to read, I can still continue to teach.
