I understand Sue, I worked for over 15 years at the same job before having to

leave it due to this illness. Keep your chin up. I live in Canada and the

rules are a bit different up here BUT if this hearing they decide to terminate

your employment due to your illness I would definitely seek the advise of a

lawyer. If you know a lawyer who is available you may want to seriously

consider having them there with you on friday.

Here in Canada it is illegal to release soemone from their job due to illness.

They can put you on long term disability but they can not release you as long as

you have a doctors written statement in regards to your condition.

My employer tried to get ride of me too until I got a lawyer involved adn then

all of a sudden i was on long term disability, no problem no more questions

asked.

Good luck, we have all been here at some point in time.

HI S

I would ask the company to show me their policy on dismissals, consult a lawyer

if you have the money. Were you on a leave of absence, were you covered my FMLA?

It's hard not knowing more details. Speak to the President of the Company, or

the highest member of the company you can get to. Speak to the Human Service

Dept, or the Dept. that handles insurance and policies, I can't remember what

they are called, make allot of noise. Sometimes that will get you what you want,

cause it is not what they want. Hard to say. Ask to see what your Doctor wrote.

Whew, that's all I can think of off the top of my head.....maybe one will help.

Try to negetioige, maybe less hours...

Good Luck...

Oh this is terrible.

Do your research and if possible come with an

advocate.

Try and find out what the doctor said and why they

could possibly find fault with you, so you can address

it.

Be prepared to show your work.

I hope things work out well for you!!

If you love God all this will be a blessing in the

end.

It depends upon what state you live in. I'm in Missouri and employers can now

fire you for any reason, especially if you are unable to perform your job like

you did previously or to the employers needs. I'm all for hiring a lawyer to

either a) get your job back or B) filing disability and/or lawsuit

Good luck whatever path you travel!

A few other things / suggestions to consider:

* pull out any/all employment reviews that you have

EVER had, including any past employer letters of

recommendation to show that you have always been an

excellent employee, and this illness is

out-of-characteristic for you;

* try to remember if anything similar happened within

your company and/or its parent company (i.e. if they

are bowing to potential insurance costs);

* be careful to whom you talk about this with (i.e.

co-workers) because you might be quoted out of

context, etc.

* from my understanding of Human Resources, they MUST

advise you at least once that you were on

'probabtion', and this does not have to be in writing,

but only documented in (say) a performance review;

All the best,

/ Charolette :-)

Hi,

If it is called " A right to work " state, usually they can fire you for anything.

I know Fl is one, I used to live there....

Hi Sue:

I was dismissed after 30 days.

I am not sure what your companies policies are. Sounds like you were a

wonderful employee because they have held out so long.
