Guest guest
My 77-yr-old mother has recently increased her dosage of injectable MTX. When she began, the dosage was at 10 mg, and she took 1 mg of folic acid a day. Her side-effects from the medicine were not too bad, except her hair started to fall out. When the Rheumy increased the dosage to 12.5 mg, in an effort to stop the hair loss, he upped the dosage of folic acid to 2 mg/day - except on the day she takes her MTX. However, her hair continues to fall out. Now the dosage of MTX has been raised to 15 mg, and the fatigue she experiences for 48 hours after the injection is terrible. My question: does anyone else who takes folic acid not do so on the day when medication is taken? I imagine the Dr. is concerned about the folic acid interfering with the efficacy of the MTX, but I've read that it doesn't. Also, do many of you also experience hair loss from MTX? --------------------------------- New Messenger with Voice. Call regular phones from your PC and save big.
