Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this group. I've been on Arava and Hydroxychloroquine for four years and my RA has been very well controlled. Very little pain, etc. Unfortunately, I have developed mild heartburn that has now lasted for 7 months and this may be from the Arava and Hydrox. I have been unable to take heartburn medication (Nexium, Protonix, etc--they all give me headaches or do not work). I tried switching to Enbrel to see if off Arava I would be free of heartburn, but Enbrel gave me severe headaches--I tried the drug for three weeks. My doctor suggested I try Humira; I'm just concerned about the headache side effect; I noted headache is listed as a side effect of Humira. Anyone experience headaches with Humira? Or should I not worry and try Humira? -Sandor __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Sandor, I believe your heartburn may be from the Hydrox. It happens to me if I don't eat when I take one. Fortunately, Previcid works for me. Nexium works best but is so expensive that I had to switch. Which is also the reason I had to switch from Enbryl (which doesn't burn on the way in) to Humira (my rheumy got me on some kind of assistance where I get it for free). The Humira does work, and I don't get headaches from it. It wears off right around the 6th-7th day, but I take it 1/week. It's important to find the meds that work right for you, so sometimes you have to go through the trial & error system. Best of luck to you, Joanne, IL [ ] humira--starting--headaches? > Hello, I'm new to this group. I've been on Arava and > Hydroxychloroquine for four years and my RA has been > very well controlled.
