Hi everyone!

I know I have been awol a long time. It has been a stressful time,

getting our daughter moved (she now lives in Georgia with her kids) and

dealing with her ex-husband and his attitude.

Meanwhile, Ron was accepted as a volunteer in a study group on

Parkinson's through St. Hospital in Indy. He is going to have

the deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery sometime in June. Their

feeling is that by doing it earlier in the course of the disease, it

might actually reverse the brain damage. They've told him he will see

at least a 50% return of normal movement, and he is thrilled!

I am going to have some minor surgery mid-May to remove some troublesome

lipomas (for those of you who don't know me, I have Dercum's Disease) to

send to a doctor who is now doing research on Dercum's. The very large

ones in my right arm are causing unending problems and seriously

interfering with my 2 favorite hobbies--quilting and gardening. The

other large tumor above my right knee will come out a week after the

arm. Those of us with DD are thrilled that someone is finally doing

research!

I keep you all in my prayers, knowing that everything we all have to

deal with might not be insurmountable challenges, and with appreciation

for all the support I have always found here (even though I don't have

RA!)

Welcome ,

I too am amazed at how many of us there are. I hope you will find support here

and someone to talk to. Best of luck getting your ra under control. My ra wants

to switch from MTX oral to injections, but lack of insurance prevents that from

happening. Hope they help you. Peggy

Judi,

I have been thinking about you so much lately. Though I hardly ever post I

feel such a bond and connection to you. I was worried that things may not

be going so well when their was a lapse. I am glad to hear that things

could be looking up for Ron. Thanks for keeping us posted and good luck to

you on your upcoming surgeries. You certainly have had your share.

So good to hear from you, Judi. I hope it isn't too hard to be separated

from and the kids.

I hope Ron's surgery is a total success. That much improvement is an

exciting prospect.

That's great that there is someone finally studying Dercum's. Where is this

researcher? I'm assuming you mean in the US.

I hope you get much relief from the removal of the lipomas. It sounds so

gosh darn painful.

Not an MD

I'll tell you where to go!
