I even bought the pies and breads for Thanksgiving. My son wan't one of those new Wii game systems, and you have to actually stand in line waiting for shipments to come in at the stores. No way can I do that!!! So I bought him one of the games, and I'll give him an IOU with it for a system when the crush slows down. And I think I'm going to have to do the rest of my shopping online, even if it means paying more for the shipping. (the reason I went to the mall was to pick up a small item I'd seen in the tone catalog that they wanted $25 to ship!!! No one here has mentioned the Christmas tree yet, and I'm dreading it. Usually everyone gets excited about it initially, but I end up dealing with all the boxes, finishing up the tree and cleaning up. Then NO ONE wants to help take the darned thing down after CHristmas. I feel like a total scrooge that I don't want to even decorate for Christmas, but I'm having a hard enough time just getting through the day-to-day stuff. --- In , " pennygruetz " <PennyGruetz@...> wrote: > > Good morning, > I am a fibromyaglia person(diagnosed six years ago) waiting for an > appointment with a rheumatologist(Jan 2) and I am reading all about > the pain choices that people are on. Guest guest
simplify simplify, simplify! gifts, all online, and if I have no clue, a gift certificate. No S & H charges and win win. Tree, artafical tabletop. Got a fiber optic one. So pretty and meditive. Easy to do and stores nicely. Baking, etc. personal choice. quick breads are good. I figure, if I really really want to, and can do it, I do it or otherwise, I forget it. My philosophy: if it is really really important to anyone, let them do it. If having a tree is sooooo important, why aren't they doing it? Figure that this whole situation is a learning experience for everyone. if they are in deneil, their problem. Not going to end up flat on my back in pain to satisfy some selfish whiner. New tradition time, people. Times and situations change. If the family doesn't like it, tough. As I said, if anything is that important, they can do or forget it. Ya, I " m one mean mutter. But I am not out of it come the Day. First thing I gave up was the 'big' dinner. Funny, how all those I used to invite, because they had no where to go, have totally disapeared in our lives. Their loss. So, dh and I are invited somewhere else for dinner, or if the kids are here they do the cooking, or we go out to dinner. Only thing I miss is the leftovers. I think that too many of us (once upon a healthy time, I was in this category, big time) are sucked in by the christmas/holiday guilt fairy and aculturation that we MUST do christmas and we must do it ourselves or it won't happen. Bunk, humbug, etc. Rose, who only does ecards too. If they don't like it, they don't have to open them. Guest guest
Hi : Sorry to hear that you are feeling overwhelmed by the holiday crunch - you are not alone! I have not even begun shopping - I am dreading those lines and the crowds, trying to find parking, walking through malls, all of the ho, ho, ho biz! I have some decorations up, lights on the windows, but no tree as of yet. My daughter and I usually end up putting on all the decorations, and then taking them off, putting them away, so at least I have some help with that. The menfolk think putting the tree on the truck and then carrying it into the house is their only part of the event - and then they do the heave ho when it is all undecorated - by the women! Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I understand what you are going through! How is Oliver and his buddy making it through the winter? My horse gets all big and fuzzy, and then our weather goes from warm and sunny to cold and windy seeminly overnight - such is the southern california christmas weather! Hang in there!
