Guest guest
I saw a great doc in MD who unfortunuately is relocating, so I couldn't stay with him, but he said that after 40 years of treating RA, he's learned that it's hard to predict the course. The specialist I went to next (who's Dad had RA, which I think is neat), said that he didn't think mine was going to take off like a rocket, but since I was anti-CCP +, that finding is associated with more severe disease. I got xrays from stem to stern and I'm awaiting the results. He thinks I do have some erosions already. It's frustrating for me, like many of you, mine simmered for years, and went undiagnosed when I was in the military. The ortho guys just injected my wrists with cortisone when I complained I couldn't do push ups. Mine started so slowly that it took a while for me to realize there was something going on other than typical middle-age aches and pains. Then it built up rapidly to a crisis level over a period of less than a month. I'm sure mine wouldn't be considered mild... I've already got some bone changes after less than a year, even with early, aggressive treatment. I sure hope yours stays mild!!! > > > > Im 32 years old. Recently diagnosed with ra. Guest guest
I am also Anti-CCP positive, although I am RF negative. I've also heard that those with positive RF or Anti-CCP may have more severe forms. I just keep hoping they're wrong.<g> > > > > > > Im 32 years old. Recently diagnosed with ra. Guest guest
Hi I was tested for RF and it was negative. I assume that is a good thing, have you heard of anybody going from RF negative to positive? Also is it common to have occasional throbbing pain in the knees and feet? Thanks.........Tim Randall <krandall@...> wrote: I am also Anti-CCP positive, although I am RF negative. I've also heard that those with positive RF or Anti-CCP may have more severe forms. Guest guest
Hi Tim, I think about everyone in here will tell you that throbbing pain in those areas is a normal occurrance with r.a. . Mine started in my feet. I soak in a tub of epsom salts, an old remedy, I know, but I really think it helps relax the muscles and gives me a break from the swelling and pain. Recently, my right elbow has started with pain. I wear one of those arm braces that is made to take pressure off the elbow area. Re: [ ] Re: course of RA Hi I was tested for RF and it was negative. Guest guest
My understanding is that it's not uncommon for people to be sero- negative in the beginning stages of RA. And some people with RA never do have a positive RF. My feet hurt all the time, and my knees hurt intermittently, along with a lot of other body parts. And yes, sometimes it's throbbing pain. > > > Hi Tim, > > > > > > Plaquenil is one of the first meds often tried on people with > RA, > > > because it has fewer potential serious side effects than others. > > If > > > it works for you, that's great! Guest guest
I also test negative but my other tests such as CCP and sed rate are all positive and high. Everyone doesn't test positive to RA (about 75% do). Throbbing and heated joints are not good - hallmark of RA is symmetrical pain. What does your doc think? ----Original Message Follows---- From: " " <Matsumura_Clan@...> Reply- < > Subject: Re: [ ] Re: course of RA Date: Sat, 9 Dec 2006 07:28:38 -0600 Tim, it's possible to have a negative RF at first, especially in early RA, but test positive later. Guest guest
Hi every test i have had, rf test, ccp test were normal. the sed rate was slightly elevated but not high. My left middle finger is damaged i guess. I can only bend it halfway. I have trouble with both feet too. The doc says there is bone thinning on some fingers and toes. Also slight deformety on both thumbs. She says it is early stages of RA. I have been having pain from it for about 3 years......Thanks.......Tim Rhonda <rhonda5003@...> wrote: I also test negative but my other tests such as CCP and sed rate are all positive and high.
