Guest guest
Hello ! I can't walk without my orthotics, custom made for me by my podiatrist. My RA started in my feet & ankles and is the part of my body most effected by the arthritis. I also have a double wide shoe size and wear New Balance sneakers with the orthotics all day long in order to walk. You can get them in extra wide sizes at http://www.brownsnewbalance.com/ - I bought my sneakers there and couldn't be more pleased, especially because I have a hard to find size (10.5 extra wide). If you haven't gone to a podiatrist yet, I really recommend it because I was helped so much by his care. I still have the pain when I walk - I don't believe a shoe will take the pain away, but without the orthotics I'd be crawling or in a wheelchair. Take care! Lori [ ] Ankle Pain/ swollen feet, need shoes As long as someone mentioned shoes... I am in search of a pair of shoes that will not further complicate the pain issues I am having with my feet and ankles. Will be trying to find a place that has those MBT shoes, soon. I have a pair of Keens that up until my feet started to swell were great. Now I can't even put them on and sit, without pain in the joints in my feet. I bought a pair of Crocs the other day, a couple of sizes too big. I can at least put my swollen feet in them and walk. At least when I have enough pain meds to be able to stand up since my ankles are flaring in a major way, complete with nodules forming. I could wear my Uggs, but my hands and fingers hurt too bad to pull them on. Odd, my feet are swollen, but my ankles aren't really all that swollen, just where the ankle joint is. I take a water pill every day, without it I swell up like a balloon. So does anyone have any suggestions for someone with Size 7.5, extra wide foot, narrow heel, high arches, and some intense foot and ankle pain? Thanks for any help. Guest guest
Those shoes are too expensive for me. I'd have to go barefoot if they were all I could find. Particuarly when the only one that would fit me (I wear an 11 1/2 women's) would be mens, and other than the sneakers, they are butt ugly. My problem isn't so much swelling, (although that happens too, sometimes) but the fact that my feet are already pretty badly deformed (which is alarming, considering that I've only had this for a little more than a year!!!) I need shoes that are really wide through the ball of the foot, because that's where my feet stick out, but I basically have a pretty narrow foot, so a wide size shoe falls off my heel. The bed of the shoe also has to be well cushioned, or it feels like I'm walking on hot rocks. I can't walk barefoot or even in socks for this reason. I'd love to hear if people have found brands that have large sizes that fit this sort of problem. I've ordered a couple of pairs of shoes from Footsmart, but they haven't fit at all. Again, they seem to assume that if you need width in the ball of the foot, you must either have fat or swollen feet and need it all over. The wides fell right off my feet, and the medium widths didn't give me enough room. I did get a shoe stretcher from them though, which has helped make a couple of pairs of men's sneakers from " Famous Footwear " tolerable. Thanks for any help. I have size 7, wide feet, high arches and need to wear decent support. I buy Propet sneakers, currently wearing their " Lifewalker " style. Any other brand seems to either make my feet hurt or causes my " bad " knee to act up. Darcy
Guest guest
Thank you for making me laugh. The toes in my right foot are permanently in the Vulcan hi sign. Guest guest
Hi everyone, For sneakers, I wear Adrenaline sneakers. Here is a link: http://www.brooksrunning.com/prod.php?p=BSI42166.23650. I love them! Also ... has a great satisfaction guaranteed. After I had been wearing these shoes a few years, I ordered a pair that came torn. I called & they mailed me a self addresses stamped to send my shoes back. I received a new pair 2 days later. Also, they are guaranteed to last 6 months or 500 miles whichever comes first. For sneakers, I suggest going to a local running or walking store (not foot locker). A good store will watch you walk & ask you for some health background to find the best shoes for you. I have never been disappointed.
