I also couldn't wake up after I took Ambien (and I still work full

time and I have three kids, so I can't wait to drive until it wears

off). It may get better as you get used to it. If it doesn't my doc

gave me 10mg of Elavil and it is wonderful. It's a much lower dose

than they use to treat depression (75-150 mg), but it's just enough

to help me doze off and to get back to sleep if I wake during the

night. I feel a bit groggy when I first wake up, but it wears off

within 10-15 minutes.

You're so right, when you sleep well, everything else becomes a lot

more manageable. This has really changed my life, even though my RA

pain and stiffness is still pretty bad, I'm dealing with it a lot

better emotionally.
