With all the crap I listened to with my former Rummy, I'd investigate before

I made any changes. First, I was told that since I took my MTX on Sunday, I

had to take my blood test on Thursday, 4 days after the shot to let the

blood settle and the test more accurate. Then, I was told that I had to do

the blood test on Tuesday because they weren't in the clinic on Thursday and

Friday. Also, there was no mention of Folic Acid, which was causing me

problems. I finally found out the real facts here and adjusted my FA to work

right. Whatever you do, do research as much as possible, and listen to the

knowledgeable ones on this list! I take my FA every morning and don't stop

on any day for any reason.

To Dennis~

Everyone on this list is knowledgeable. I'm a 30 year expert on prednisone,

crohns, illio-colonic resection surgeries,MTX, RA, osteoporosis, Humira, and

so many other drugs and procedures. I'm an expert where these things concern

ME. I assume other's on here see themselves about the same. So when advice

is given or stories are shared it's from non-professionals that have nothing

to draw from but the benefit of their own personal experiences and anecdotal

information.

Doctors differ widely about testing and treatment. Does it mean that one is

more knowledgeable than another? It could, or it could mean that they just

have different experiences in treating patients, and more confidence in one

approach over another.

Most importantly, the info and advice you get from here are from people just

like you and me. People that are trying to share their experiences as best

they can with others and to get suggestions as well.

Take what you need from here and throw away the rest.

I had one doctor put me on MTX a year ago and my abdomen was beginning to be

mishapen because of swelling of my liver...........he wouldn't listen to me

or even look at me. So, I mentioned this to a nurse that was administering

the shot (for some reason I always had to go in, though I've given myself

many other shots over the past 30 years) and she basically whispered in my

ear that I'm seeing the wrong doctor and that I need to see this particular

doctor. She made the arrangements and the first thing he did was take me off

MTX...........

It's up to all of us to personally sift out what works for us. In the

meantime we'll all hear suggestions or experiences that don't work for us or

don't apply to us. I would caution anyone against veiled insults about the

knowledge of others on this list.

I don't feel that I said anything out of line, so there will be no apology

from me. I said what I believe. So, maybe I'll just read and not pass on

anything I learn.

Ian, Don't sell us short. Many of us have done a lot of reading and

research. I have a journalism degree and was well trained in research

methods.

Dennis, sometimes what we say is interpreted in a way that was not intended when

it is in writing . I have known you long enough to know you would never be

insulting in any way shape or form. You are a valuable contributor to our list,

so keep on passing on information that may well be of benefit to one or more of

us.

Dennis,

You said nothing out of line, so please don't feel that you did. We

all have to remember that each and every one of us is dealing with a

horrible disease that we take heavy duty meds for. Sometimes things

are written in an email that can be misunderstood. With no facial

expressions or tones of voices, it's easy to misread or miswrite.

I've done it myself. Please continue to share your experiences with us.

I don't believe that Dennis was trying to insult you. And, you're right, we

do indeed benefit from hearing from a variety of members about what their

May I suggest that we all put this episode behind us and try to give one

another the benefit of the doubt?

I sincerely hope you and Dennis will both continue to participate.

I second that! :)

I feel the same way that June does, Dennis. Words on a computer screen

can often be misinterpreted and taken the wrong way. One of the things

I like about this list is the way that we all get along so well,

without the petty arguing that I've seen on other lists. I hope you

will continue to post.

I thought that was the whole idea of this list passing on things we learn, our

experiences and to give support to those who understand what we are going

through ? that is what I was doing in my original message. I do not claim to

know everything as I don't but I will no longer share in this group.
