Guest guest
The thinner the needle when you insert it into the stopper it gets dull!!!! If you can get the larger needle to draw up with and then change to smaller needle that works great!! You will have to order the needles and syringes separately but it can be done. I know this from personal experience. Toni In a message dated 4/21/2006 10:25:41 P.M. Central Daylight Time, writes: From: " MELISSA CRIGLER " nmsanders@... Because when Em first got her rx for MTX shots, they gave me an RX for 29 gauge needles. You probably already know, but if not-- the higher the gauge the skinnier the needle. Anyway, when I went to the pharmacy, I asked if these were insulin needles. They said yes they were. I asked if ANYONE makes ANY needles smaller than the 29g. The told me there was such a thing as 31 1/2g. needles, but that they may not be long enough to make it through the rubber " stopper " on the top, and would take a longer time to draw up and shoot into the skin. Well, for GOD SAKES!!! If there is such a thing as a smaller needle, why on earth would you prescribe a needle bigger than necessary for a poor little 3 year old???!!!!!! It does just barely make it through the rubber stopper, and does take a few seconds longer to draw up, and you're supposed to inject it slowly anyway -so it doesn't burn as much I think, so why they rx me 29 I'll never know. I also found out that they make numbing cream one called EMLA, and one called LMX 4 and/or LMX 5% Lidocaine. OOOOh listen to me on my little soapbox. Sorry! My point was if they come prefilled in a larger syring, I wonder if I could draw it up another way or switch the needles. Well, I'm getting ahead of myself I guess. Hopefully she'll be okay. Today she hasn't complained yet and it's almost evening. If you don't mind me asking, not trying to be nosey, what is a tracheostomy? Is that a hole in the neck? What do you have to do to it? You sound like you've been through a lot too. How old is your son now? If you have any other kids were they jealous of the attention your son got? I apologize if those questions were too personal. I just don't know what to say to my 8 year old sometimes. She gets sooo jealous. We got to go on a Make a Wish Foundation wish trip to Disney World because of EMily so that helped my other one be a little happier. No way could we have ever gone otherwise. Well, Thanks for any info. Missy
