Guest guest
Dear Kate, Enbrel really works for me, I have been using it for 2 years, started with the kind you had to mix. My best advice would be to take the shot out of the frig about 20 minutes before you have to inject. When I would inject it cold, I would get like a severe muscle cramp pain, but with it room temp it is not as bad. Hope this helps. Guest guest
After zillions of phone calls, I finally got preauthorization for Enbrel and it should arrive tomorrow. Does anyone have advice on using the sure click injector, or using Enbrel in general? This is my first round of serious medicine. I'm currently on prednisone and Celebrex. Thanks tons, Kate __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I took enbrel for a while, and didn't have any major problems with it. I used the regular injectable kind, but I was used to giving myself shots already with my Mtx. It stings a little bit, supposedly from the preservative in the needle, but it's not bad. In your case, with the sure click thing, my guess is it's even easier. The only problem I had was a small, itchy rash right around the injection site, sort of like a mosquito bite. I found that if I put a little bit of Benadryl lotion on the area, it went right away. Enbrel didn't work very well for me, but I didn't have any problems to speak of taking it!<g> > > After zillions of phone calls, I finally got preauthorization for Enbrel and it should arrive tomorrow. Guest guest
I just started the mtx shots, , because the pills were tearing up my stomach. I can't take any of the newer r.a. drugs because of my history of skin cancer, my rheumy said they don't know yet how the newer drugs hamper fighting diseases like cancer. I like the mtx shots so far, they're cheap and that's the best part. [ ] Re: Starting Enbrel tomorrow, advice? I took enbrel for a while, and didn't have any major problems with it. Guest guest
Kate, I haven't used the sure click injector with my Enbrel, so you'll have to report back to us on how that works. I use the 25 mg. Enbrel that has to be mixed and is to be injected twice a week. When I tried the 50mg, it didn't seem to last for me the entire week. I have been on Enbrel for over two years. I can't take methotrexate along with it, because mtx causes my white blood cell count to get too low. Enbrel works for me by itself, very well. I have very little pain and stiffness. I also take arthritis-strength Tylenol and occasionally take Tramadol. I hope that Enbrel works for you as well as it does for me. Guest guest
I agree, fpr me the MTx shots are a HUGE improvement over the pills in terms of the side effects. And the shots are really easy once you get used to them. Unlike the biologics, the Mtx doesn't even sting. > > I just started the mtx shots, , because the pills were tearing up my stomach. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the Enbrel advice. I hope I find it sitting on my porch when I get home tonight. I think my rheum would be giving me MTX, but since I'm trying to get pregnant, it's a no no. My master plan is to get off prednisone, it's making me very puffy! Guest guest
I think it's great that you can take the Biologics and still get pregnant! I've heard of other people here who have just had to try to do without any DMARDS, and just take prednisone when/if they flared during pregnancy. I'm glad that my baby-making days were past when I came down with this crummy disease. Good luck to you... I _can_ say for certain (because I had a HORRIBLE pregnancy for other reasons) that the end result is well worth anything you have to go through during pregnancy. I will even say that now, when they are both teenagers!<g> > > > > > > After zillions of phone calls, I finally got preauthorization > for > > Enbrel and it should arrive tomorrow.
