Guest guest
Back in the winter, I started feeling much better after changing to a real Rheumy, so I started weaning off Prednisone. I have been at around 10 gm/day for years but have been 'hounded' to get off it. I went down slowly from 10 to 6 mg and thought I was doing well. Then the problem with my right leg got worse. I had to sit, stand, or lie down with my spine bent forward and to the left a little or I'd have numbness, tingling, and pain all the way to my toes. I went to my doc, who ordered MRI's and a visit to the first pain clinic we could get. This was in January and the appointment was the last of March. In the meantime, I decided the problem is caused by my lack of prednisone, so I went back up to 10 mg/day and the symptoms slowly subsided. By the time of my app't, I was feeling great and could do almost anything without hurting much. The high-priced pain doc, after talking to me for a minute and a half, decided that I only needed to keep taking the prednisone! I didn't get my money's worth out of that one.
