Guest guest
No kidding. I've mentioned this flushing effect. I recommend B3 (Niacin) either alone or in conjunction with sauna treatment. I tried it for a month - at 150mg I had a fairly profound flush...my whole body would turn red and there was some mild itching. I reduced to 75mg and I still had the flush but much milder. It's actually good to get the flush - it means blood vessels are expanding, thus allowing toxins to pass through the bloodstream, that's what I've read anyway. I did not notice any changes during treatment but afterwards my energy level increased noticeably and this improvement has held. I can stay up later at night and I sleep much better and deeper. I plan on doing another course in a month or so. In my opinion, trying Niacin is a no brainer. Just be careful and start with a low dose. There's only so much " flushing " one can handle. Guest guest
i got my niacin today its 500mg pills though, i also have bought a sauna to use at home while i try this out. ive got some reservation though mainly because of my gilberts syndrome and im not really supposed to take b3 supplements because of its effects on elevating bilirubin, it also has this effect on people without gilberts syndrome just not in the same ammount. the other reservation ive got is what ive read about histamine and erections, i think it actually has a positive effect and after reading that taking b3 can deplete your body of histamine, well its something im a bit paranoid about but i have to weigh up the risks and the benefits i suppose but bickers recovery tells me its at least worth a go. have you seen any improvments with pssd while you been doing this flush thing? > > > > just reading about vitamin b3 in the link below it says that b3 > will > > cause you to flush when taken in a high enough amount, but taken > > continuously at high amounts this effect wears off because the > > flushing effects are down to the releace of histamine from cells. > > > > i remember reading research on erectile dysfunction and histamine > > having a positive effect on it, i know that tagamet a h2 blocker > can > > cause erectile dysfunction. > > > > i remeber shay saying his neurotransmitter test had high histamine. > > > > bicker is also taking b3 in the infra red sauna treatment. i.e hes > > been reducing his histamine levels by taking it. > > > > another interesting thing about vitamin b3 is its relationship with > > tryptophan, b3 can be made by the body through the biosynthesis of > > tryptophan. apparently a b3 deficiency can occur if there is a > > deficiency of b1, b2, or b6. as all these vitamins are needed for > the > > processing of tryptophan into b3. > > > > http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T120793.html > > >
Guest guest
I would start with a much lower dose than 500mg. I have 300mg pills, and I cut them into quarters. Like I said, I did not see improvement during treatment, but I did see noticeable improvements in energy level and sleep patterns afterwards. I had a few days where my sexual function improved, but I reverted back to baseline eventually. Perhaps I didn't stay on treatment long enough. Also of note - there were days during treatment where I would wake up and I had that " drugged " feeling that I had while I was on Celexa. I took this as a good sign...maybe the drug " escaped " from fat tissue and passed through the bloodstream. Just a theory. Guest guest
perhaps it was liberating some of the ssris compound from fat cells, im going to try and find out some information on histamines involvement in erections. if the flush is caused by histamine release and doing it often depleted histamine from the body then this could have a negative impact on erections but i suppose you could take the amino acids histidine to replenish it and carry on doing the flush for prolonged periods. histadine is a precursor to histamine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histidine but i suppose histamine has an inflammatory action and depleting it may help recovery of tissues, possibly in the genitals and this is also why things get worce for a while. i was reading a while ago about prostatitis (inflammation of the prostate) and there was some similarity's between pssd and that condition, when i look into it apparently prostatic stones can form in the prostate just like the stones that can form in the kidneys, most people with these stones have got prostatis, but there are also people that have them that havent so they dont associate the stone as the cause of prostatitis. but the one thing they fail to mention is the possibility of the individuals reaction to them i.e. an immune or allergic response to the formation of the stones. reading more into these stones that form i learnt they were mainly made up from urea, indicating some sort of back surge of urea into the prostate to form the stones, if any of us with pssd has got these stones its likely that while we were on ssris with our urine being the main way you expel the compound from your body, stones could have or partly formed out of the actual ssri its self leading to a possible inflammatory response and possibly pssd in some cases. http://www.prostatitis.org/stones.html > > > > > > > > just reading about vitamin b3 in the link below it says that b3 > > > will > > > > cause you to flush when taken in a high enough amount, but > taken > > > > continuously at high amounts this effect wears off because the > > > > flushing effects are down to the releace of histamine from > cells. > > > > > > > > i remember reading research on erectile dysfunction and > histamine > > > > having a positive effect on it, i know that tagamet a h2 > blocker > > > can > > > > cause erectile dysfunction. > > > > > > > > i remeber shay saying his neurotransmitter test had high > > histamine. > > > > > > > > bicker is also taking b3 in the infra red sauna treatment. i.e > > hes > > > > been reducing his histamine levels by taking it. > > > > > > > > another interesting thing about vitamin b3 is its relationship > > with > > > > tryptophan, b3 can be made by the body through the biosynthesis > > of > > > > tryptophan. apparently a b3 deficiency can occur if there is a > > > > deficiency of b1, b2, or b6. as all these vitamins are needed > for > > > the > > > > processing of tryptophan into b3. > > > > > > > > http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T120793.html > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
ive found the link to the research on histamines involvement in erections and i was rite it seem to have a positive effect on erections. http://www.ihop-net.org/UniPub/iHOP/pm/162360.html?pmid=7850330 this is weired if the actions of vit b3 is to release histamine and taken constantly the release of histamine depletes, how can this be having a positive effect? i will say this though i started to take the bioflavonoid quercetin and this apparently stops histamine form being liberated. i did find it easier to get an erection while i was taking this. which its contradictory to the research above, but not to the experiences of bicker, i wonder if histamine has neurotransmitter activity that is anti erections, as the research was on histamines direct effects on the penile tissues. maybe getting histamine down to a level where it doesn't interrupt mental response is whats happening, thats if histamine has neurotransmitter activity of a negative kind on erections. > > > > > > > > > > just reading about vitamin b3 in the link below it says that > b3 > > > > will > > > > > cause you to flush when taken in a high enough amount, but > > taken > > > > > continuously at high amounts this effect wears off because > the > > > > > flushing effects are down to the releace of histamine from > > cells. > > > > > > > > > > i remember reading research on erectile dysfunction and > > histamine > > > > > having a positive effect on it, i know that tagamet a h2 > > blocker > > > > can > > > > > cause erectile dysfunction. > > > > > > > > > > i remeber shay saying his neurotransmitter test had high > > > histamine. > > > > > > > > > > bicker is also taking b3 in the infra red sauna treatment. > i.e > > > hes > > > > > been reducing his histamine levels by taking it. > > > > > > > > > > another interesting thing about vitamin b3 is its > relationship > > > with > > > > > tryptophan, b3 can be made by the body through the > biosynthesis > > > of > > > > > tryptophan. apparently a b3 deficiency can occur if there is > a > > > > > deficiency of b1, b2, or b6. as all these vitamins are needed > > for > > > > the > > > > > processing of tryptophan into b3. > > > > > > > > > > http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T120793.html > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
just reading wiki and yes histamine has effects on the brain and also effects on sleep regulation and on orgasm's. this could be explaining some of the effects in this sauna treatment & b3. " It has been shown that histaminergic cells have the most wakefulness-related firing pattern of any neuronal type thus far recorded " " They fire rapidly during waking, fire more slowly during periods of relaxation/tiredness and completely stop firing during REM and NREM (non-REM) sleep. " could this have something to do with, the positive effects of sleep deprivation? and the sauna vit b3 treatment? (i think sooooo) ive mentioned before that pssd could be an increased state of alertness, taking b3 in high doses is decreasing histamine levels in the body. (possibly enabling sexual thoughts to have normal reaction) " Research has shown that histamine is released as part of the human orgasm from mast cells in the genitals. If this response is lacking this may be a sign of histapenia (histamine deficiency). In such cases, a doctor may prescribe diet supplements with folic acid and niacin (which used in conjunction can increase blood histamine levels and histamine release), or L-histidine. Conversely, men with high histamine levels may suffer from premature ejaculations. " hmmmmm premature ejaculation, thats opposite pssd. (and i see that they recommend niacin thats b3 yeah. is this a coincidence? i dont think sooooo) " H3 receptor activation, which is the reduction of serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, GABA, and acetylcholine. " (so two much histamine in one place and not in others may be the cause of pssd?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Histamine p.s people with gilberts have strange things going on with histamine! (possibly giving more credibility to my genetic theory) http://www.gilbertssyndrome.com/allergies.php > > > > > > > > > > > > just reading about vitamin b3 in the link below it says > that > > b3 > > > > > will > > > > > > cause you to flush when taken in a high enough amount, but > > > taken > > > > > > continuously at high amounts this effect wears off because > > the > > > > > > flushing effects are down to the releace of histamine from > > > cells. > > > > > > > > > > > > i remember reading research on erectile dysfunction and > > > histamine > > > > > > having a positive effect on it, i know that tagamet a h2 > > > blocker > > > > > can > > > > > > cause erectile dysfunction. > > > > > > > > > > > > i remeber shay saying his neurotransmitter test had high > > > > histamine. > > > > > > > > > > > > bicker is also taking b3 in the infra red sauna treatment. > > i.e > > > > hes > > > > > > been reducing his histamine levels by taking it. > > > > > > > > > > > > another interesting thing about vitamin b3 is its > > relationship > > > > with > > > > > > tryptophan, b3 can be made by the body through the > > biosynthesis > > > > of > > > > > > tryptophan. apparently a b3 deficiency can occur if there > is > > a > > > > > > deficiency of b1, b2, or b6. as all these vitamins are > needed > > > for > > > > > the > > > > > > processing of tryptophan into b3. > > > > > > > > > > > > http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T120793.html > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
after reading a bit more about this it seems that a deficiency of mast cell histamine in the genitals could cause delayed ejaculation and possibly problems with orgasm. non mast cell hisamine is in the brain where it acts as nurotransmiter, " histaminergic cells have the most wakefulness- related firing pattern of any neuronal type " it seems an excess of this kind of histamine could possibly give an increased sense of alertness and possibly the inability to switch to an aroused state of mind. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > just reading about vitamin b3 in the link below it says > > that > > > b3 > > > > > > will > > > > > > > cause you to flush when taken in a high enough amount, > but > > > > taken > > > > > > > continuously at high amounts this effect wears off > because > > > the > > > > > > > flushing effects are down to the releace of histamine > from > > > > cells. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i remember reading research on erectile dysfunction and > > > > histamine > > > > > > > having a positive effect on it, i know that tagamet a h2 > > > > blocker > > > > > > can > > > > > > > cause erectile dysfunction. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i remeber shay saying his neurotransmitter test had high > > > > > histamine. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > bicker is also taking b3 in the infra red sauna > treatment. > > > i.e > > > > > hes > > > > > > > been reducing his histamine levels by taking it. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > another interesting thing about vitamin b3 is its > > > relationship > > > > > with > > > > > > > tryptophan, b3 can be made by the body through the > > > biosynthesis > > > > > of > > > > > > > tryptophan. apparently a b3 deficiency can occur if there > > is > > > a > > > > > > > deficiency of b1, b2, or b6. as all these vitamins are > > needed > > > > for > > > > > > the > > > > > > > processing of tryptophan into b3. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > http://www.diagnose-me.com/treat/T120793.html > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
just done my first sauna treatment and guess what, i had no flushing effects from the niacin. i got the 500mg tablets but broke this in half so only took 250mg, i also drank a couple of pints of water before the sauna, i waited to see if i got any flushing effects before i got in the sauna. (but didn't) did i do something wrong? i will take the full 500mg tomorrow and see if that works.

Guest guest
no way check this shit out look no further as to why these things are so bad, apparently the Nazis planned to put fluoride in the drinking water to dumb down the population and make them subservient, they gave it to p.o.w's during the war for this reason! check out all this shit about flouride/fluorine its in most of the ssri's and most other pharmaceuticals and there developing thousands more of them rite now. http://www.whale.to/a/fluoride23.html http://naturalhealthnews.blogspot.com/2007/11/bad-fluoride.html http://www.relfe.com/07/fluoride_drug_dangers.html http://www.antidepressantsfacts.com/2003-08-Prozac-Paxil- Fluorophenyl.htm http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/thyroid/ http://www.fluoridealert.org/health/brain/ http://www.fluoridation.com/brain.htm http://members.aol.com/doewatch/f.html http://www.litalee.com/shopexd.asp?id=176 & bc=no http://www.rense.com/general3/fluo.htm http://www.slweb.org/ftrcfluorinatedpharm.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE2GdUAgyJo & feature=related http://www.fluoride-journal.com/00-33-1/331-17.pdf is it any wonder we are fucked when there putting this kind of shit in drugs!!!!! > > it says i this article that " recent studies have shown that the > fluorinated antidepressant medications remain in the brain for > prolonged periods after discontinuing the medication " > > http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/4/19/194210.shtml? s=lh > > > it is fluoride, like whats in your tooth past rite? >
Guest guest
I just popped a 1000mg tab and got the flushing. Guest guest
That would be prozac and paxil. They have a flouride molecule bonded to the chemical structure. As far as I know, some of the drug is metabolized in the brain and some flouride gets left behind. It's the same as putting poison in your brain. So, you're not poisoning yourself with toothpaste becuase it has regular flouride. Not a chemical alteration that crosses the blood brain barrier. > > it says i this article that " recent studies have shown that the > fluorinated antidepressant medications remain in the brain for > prolonged periods after discontinuing the medication " > > http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/4/19/194210.shtml?s=lh > > > it is fluoride, like whats in your tooth past rite? >
Guest guest
I get the flushing at just 75mg. So I guess, like other supplements, we all react differently. Better to start low and work your way up. Guest guest
here read this link about chelation and iodine, apparently fluoride can accumulate in the thyroid if theres a low iodine in your system. taking iodine increases expulsion of fluoride, this could be new ssri detox treatment. i wonder if edta and dmsa have any binding affinity for fluoride, if so that would be a really effective way of getting this shit out out of out body's once and for all, if its still in there in some form. http://www.alkalizeforhealth.net/Liodine2.htm > > > > it says i this article that " recent studies have shown that the > > fluorinated antidepressant medications remain in the brain for > > prolonged periods after discontinuing the medication " > > > > http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/4/19/194210.shtml? s=lh > > > > > > it is fluoride, like whats in your tooth past rite? > > >

Guest guest
you know what ive just read that vitamin c will stop the flushing effect, ive been taking it with fresh orange juice. maybe this is the reason why im only getting a flushing effect thats long lasting and takes ages to happen. > > > > > > just done my first sauna treatment and guess what, i had no > flushing > > > effects from the niacin. > > > > > > i got the 500mg tablets but broke this in half so only took > 250mg, i > > > also drank a couple of pints of water before the sauna, i waited > to > > > see if i got any flushing effects before i got in the sauna. Guest guest
The flushing efect happens in 10 or 20 mins. It isrecommended to start with a low dose and gradually increase it. I personally decided to get the 1000mg caps because the price was better. And I am usually to impatient to take things slowly. The first time I did it, the firey itching flush was almost unbearable for a few minutes, but it didn't last long. On repeated doses the flush isn't as strong. 2morrow I'll try 2000mg. I take it with folic acid and L-Tyrosine. My next trial is going to be inosine with Lion's Mane and ghrp-6. > > > > > > just done my first sauna treatment and guess what, i had no > flushing > > > effects from the niacin. > > > > > > i got the 500mg tablets but broke this in half so only took > 250mg, i > > > also drank a couple of pints of water before the sauna, i waited > to > > > see if i got any flushing effects before i got in the sauna. Guest guest
I've been reading about vitamin C. It's a lot more interesting than I ever thought it was. There isn't a toxic amount. You can take all the vit-C you want. I wonder what effect it would have if you took high dose vit-C with a high dose of B3 ? > > > > > > > > just done my first sauna treatment and guess what, i had no > > flushing > > > > effects from the niacin. > > > > > > > > i got the 500mg tablets but broke this in half so only took > > 250mg, i > > > > also drank a couple of pints of water before the sauna, i > waited > > to > > > > see if i got any flushing effects before i got in the sauna. > (but > > > > didn't) > > > > > > > > did i do something wrong? > > > > > > > > i will take the full 500mg tomorrow and see if that works. > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
ive read that you can take 3000mg per day of vitamin c as it only is in the body for about 6hrs, also at a high enough dose it can kill cancer cells. taking high dose vit c with b3 would disrupt niacin's effects on histamine releace. p.s. i took 500mg of niacin today before the sauna, still no real great flushing action. i think the slight flushing effect iis more to do with the sauna than the niacin. maybe i dont have any histamine to release. > > > > > > > > > > just done my first sauna treatment and guess what, i had no > > > flushing > > > > > effects from the niacin. > > > > > > > > > > i got the 500mg tablets but broke this in half so only took > > > 250mg, i > > > > > also drank a couple of pints of water before the sauna, i > > waited > > > to > > > > > see if i got any flushing effects before i got in the sauna. > > (but > > > > > didn't) > > > > > > > > > > did i do something wrong? > > > > > > > > > > i will take the full 500mg tomorrow and see if that works. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
ive started this so we can discuss and research the organofluorines that are in the ssris. ive come across some information about there being a possible link to the increase in juvenile diabetes and organofluorines in antibiotics. apparently the suspicion is it having an effect on displacing and replacing zinc in the pancreas. (im thinking prostate!) ive also come across information about fluorine accumulating in the brain long after discontinuing a drug. and fluorine accumulating in the thyroid if the thyroid was deficient in iodine. it look like this shit could have effects on all hormone producing glands. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.games.go/msg/c419855058247cd9 i was wondering if chelating agents like edta or dmsa could have the ability to bind and remove this kind of fluoride, if so it would be a new detox remedy to try out. Guest guest
"i have asked about this before but didnt get any responses. can somebody please explain what gaba is and its theoretical connection to pssd."GABA is a neurotransmitter which regulates 'neuronal excitability'. Which is a pretty fundamental function and basically means it allows or disallows neurons to be activated and stimulated. It has a lot to do with the central nervous system. Benzos modulate the GABA receptor to slow the CNS down. I don't know exactly how it's related to PSSD, but a lot of the posts on here give the impression benzos make things worse for PSSD, Zants' being the strongest example. My gut tells me it's a bad idea. However if you ever plan to come off them I say you do it slowly and carefully, because from memory of the posts cold turkey is not a good idea.Take all of the science with a grain of salt, it's recently acquired Wiki knowledge so I'm not exactly assured of its' veracity. > > i have asked about this before but didnt get any responses. can somebody please explain what gaba is and its theoretical connection to pssd. i know that benzos affect gaba and am concerned that they may hinder recovery or make things worse. i have been taking them for quite a while now. > > thanks > Need a Holiday? Guest guest
you must wean off slowly from gaba inhibitors. you can have seizures from going cold turkey depending on dose, how long you've been on etc. I'm a pain and spasticity nurse and deal with folks that have baclofen going intrathecally and if these folks have an interruption in use , they can die. also lyrica is another gaba inhibitor. linda rn Re: Re: vitamin b3 histamine tryptophan link "i have asked about this before but didnt get any responses. can somebody please explain what gaba is and its theoretical connection to pssd."GABA is a neurotransmitter which regulates 'neuronal excitability'.
