Guest guest
NO NO NO, lexapro is among the list of SSRI's that people here have problems with! NO ANTIDEPRESSANT is the answer. Step up your exercise, man! NOT ONLY have stories of the INEFFECTIVENESS of antidepressants been out for a couple of weeks, but another study shows that exercise is better than antidepressants at curing depression. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID, save yourself--there are other ways to cure depression. Most people here now have problems with lack of emotion and feel pretty much nothing afer SSRI's--which is MUCH worse than being depressed. I think its normal to be depressed sometimes--i DOES pass, its OK not to always be chipper and bubbly. Try therapy, vitamins, force yourself to get outside and force yourself into social situations, i think the depression will lift. Sadness is part of life, just like happiness. Take a nice long walk in nature, it lifts my mood everytime i do. I feel like a new person every time i check out of the rat race for an hour or so and GO TO A WOODED PARK and just walk it out!!! good luck, lisa --- keithrig wrote: > I am going through a difficult time period and need > to be on some > anti-depressant. Guest guest
http://www.smart-drugs.com/ias-milnacipran.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milnacipran I just ordered this for a recently diagnosed atypical trigeminal neuralgia by my orthosurgeon due to a pinched nerve... hopefully it doesn't make things worse tho as it says it has no sexual side effects...He prescribed me Nortriptyline but i refuse to take a TCA as they are worse for sex drive than anything...You can only get Milnacipran in europe as it still isn't fda approved here still in stage 3 will probably be approved october 08...I'm very much against using drugs b/c obviously they destroy the sexual part of the brain with certain ones but not all... but i have ordered this SNRI to combat physical pain which is probably making my sex drive even worse..I never lost my sex drive from SSRIs b/c i was fighting physical pain there too...I lost my sex drive from 6 weeks of risperdal with ssris which i am very angry about...Hopefully i get to see some positive sexual benefit from this drug although i doubt it... you can order it here btw if you are interested.....http://www.antiaging-systems.com/a2z/milnacipran.htm --- keithrig wrote: > I am going through a difficult time period and need > to be on some > anti-depressant. Guest guest
I probably need to be on an anti-depressant of some type as well, but I refuse to take another SSRI. 17 years of Prozac have destroyed me sexually, and the brief 2 months I was on Paxil made me suicidal, the same I believe it was with Pamelor. Welbutrin has little effect, and Lithium and Elavil and it's generic forms are unacceptable due to side effects such as weight gain, and elavil made me so drowsy I could not function. I don't know if anyone else has experienced these symptoms, but my attention span has become incredibly short since SSRIs and it seems like thoguhts get jumbled up in my mind: I have a horrible time typing these days. I have to check everything as I type, especially when fatigue sets in. Given what I have laid out, is there ANYTHING left ? Or do I have to chose with a doctor between the lesser of the evils above? Guest guest
I would not recommend using any SSRI/SNRI to anyone, especially Lexapro since it is the drug that affected me. It is just as poisonous as the rest of them. I took it for 3 days in late 2006 and I still suffer from degrees of genital numbness, impaired libido, erectile dysfunction, and anorgasmia. If you are going through a grieving process, or you are dealing with something awful, I recommend seeking the advice and counsel of a therapist or support group. - > > I am going through a difficult time period and need to be on some > anti-depressant. Guest guest
You might try St. 's Wort, cold showers, a hobby, joining a new club, physical exercise, a loving relationship, friendship, cognitive behavioral therapy and finding and solving large problems in your life (health, job, relationship, conflicts, money etc...) Seek more solutions for depression on high quality websites and forums about depression. Try to avoid too heavy difficulties in your life. Can you make other life decisions? Re-evaluate your underlying life goals! I advise you to do some research on the internet about possible side effects of St.'s Wort before using it. I would prefer not taking a chemically produced antidepressant if possible. From the antidepressant mirtazapine are much less sexual side effects reported than from SSRIs. Mirtazapine may give sexual side effects though. > > I am going through a difficult time period and need to be on some > anti-depressant. >
Guest guest
Try several alternative therapies. Acupuncture has proven good results in reducing pain. Discuss this with your surgeon. > > http://www.smart-drugs.com/ias-milnacipran.htm > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milnacipran > > I just ordered this for a recently diagnosed atypical > trigeminal neuralgia by my orthosurgeon due to a > pinched nerve... Guest guest
i totally agree with the majority of other responses you have had. do not even think of taking an ssri. if i knew before what i know now, i would have approached my anxiety and depression in any other way possible. just read a few posts on this site and you will see that the majority of people feel that they have more problems since taking ssri's than before. do not make the same mistake. you may feel as i did, so desperate that you really don't care about the consequences, but i re-iterate i would much rather have lived through the pain and suffering (which i did anyway as i don't even think that ssri's are particularly effective in decreaasing anxiety or depression) and not have the added problems that i have now as a consequence. time is the only healer! > > I am going through a difficult time period and need to be on some > anti-depressant.
