Guest guest
im also in the uk, where are you getting the blood test online? you can ring bupa and ask them to give you a quote for any diagnostic test or investigation, if you want to go ahead with anything and they want a referral from your doctor just ring them and tell them to put you one in the post (you dont have to tell them what its for just tell them to do it! and go get the tests you want) > > Hi everyone, I am new here, I would just like to give a few pieces of > adviice that I have picked up. Guest guest
I have found a place in Nottingham that will do tests for free testosterone. Have you had a test already? how did it go if so? Here is the website for the place I am planning on going http://www.medichecks.com/aboutus.cfm It is a blood test in Nottingham. If there are enough of us in the UK getting blood tests done, this could potentially give us more strength in numbers. If there were enough people with reports of low free testosterone this could eventually lead to further publication.
Guest guest
are you sure thats not a saliva test there offering? ive not had blood tests done yet, i rang bupa today to give me the costs involved in the recommended blood tests that you are advised to have in the faq section (click database left hand side of screen) bacically it costs arround £50 for each blood test so its quite expensive and they couldnt give me the costs for all of them as they didn't know what i was on about when i asked about testosterone in any other form than just testosterone (total) they also couldnt give me a cost for dht, comprehensive metabolic panel, lipid panel, homocysteine and i-gf1, these tests were not on there lists. so your looking at about £1000 for the blood tests recommended here that's about $2000. > > I have found a place in Nottingham that will do tests for free > testosterone. Guest guest
ive just got some more saliva tests done they indicate about a 20-25% reduction in both testosterone and estradiol since my last test which was 6 months before, i dont understand this because my pssd was definitely worce 6 months ago. Guest guest
Check out the ratio of Test to E. If it improved, that is a good sign. Also there is a wide range of hormones involved that could indicate changes. It's hard to assume that you could be headed for primary hypo at this point with this much information. What is your iatrogenic history? > > ive just got some more saliva tests done they indicate about a 20-25% > reduction in both testosterone and estradiol since my last test which > was 6 months before, i dont understand this because my pssd was > definitely worce 6 months ago. >
Guest guest
You should contact someone with better knowledge maybe? I have one suggestion: pssd makes things like prolactine, cortisol etc rise. As these bad things rise, testosterone could drop? Or maybe it is just the unpredictable hormone changes that we have? Was it a test for free testosterone or just testosterone generally? I think certain things cause free testosterone to drop eg. caffine increases the sex binding globulin (another reason why we should not drink caffine). One thing that I think that this demonstrates is that sex drive is not just determined by testosterone. Most specialists in this area are aware that there are other factors at work, eg. serotonin, dopamine, and maybe more mysterious hormone changes. You know I once had a G.P who told me that on the NHS, they don't believe that dopamine has any effect on libido! ridiculous, now go and type in libido, dopamine on google and you will see what I mean. I have found a particularly interesting article on this which I think may be important. I will try to find it again this week. It is about MDMA, cocaine and slepp deprivation. It includes some additional hormones that we may not have thought of yet in this forum.
Guest guest
a saliva test measures free hormones, i thin the drop may have some thing to do with saw palmetto, although where ever you read anything about saw palmetto it says its an aphrodisiac and increases testosterone. the decrease hasn't effected my libido though its actually increaced since i had the first test, i dont think the amount of testosterone is as important that what people may think. > > You should contact someone with better knowledge maybe? > I have one suggestion: > > pssd makes things like prolactine, cortisol etc rise. > As these bad things rise, testosterone could drop? > > Or maybe it is just the unpredictable hormone changes that we have? > > Was it a test for free testosterone or just testosterone generally? > I think certain things cause free testosterone to drop eg. caffine > increases the sex binding globulin (another reason why we should not > drink caffine). > > One thing that I think that this demonstrates is that sex drive is not > just determined by testosterone. Guest guest
the testosterone has dropped from 120 to 94, estradiol dropped from 1.8 to 1.5. the ratio of t to e should be 200 to 1. ive been taking saw palmetto i think thats the culprit. but ive had an increase in libido since that first test and things are diffidently way better since then. its gilberts syndrome thats causing the high e to t ratio, ive an deficiency in a enzyme which breaks down estrogens, so i have higher amounts circulating. i was looking into aromatase inhibitors, i found out about Chrysin as a natural one but this article rips it to pieces. http://www.vrp.com/articles.aspx?page=LIST & ProdID=1208 & qid= & zTYPE=2 they are promoting another supplement for decreasing estrogen's by activating enzymes which break it down, sounds perfect for my condition. but after reading this warning link about saw palmetto it also might decrease testosterone as well as estrogen's. http://www.dadamo.com/forum/archiveb/config.pl?read=106226 conflictiong information. > > > > ive just got some more saliva tests done they indicate about a 20- 25% > > reduction in both testosterone and estradiol since my last test which > > was 6 months before, i dont understand this because my pssd was > > definitely worce 6 months ago. > > >
