Guest guest
always wanted to try hot yoga but I sweat buckets and have such a hard time slipping in regular yoga.. thought I would do nose plants not downward dog.. give us report :)judy To: Exercise Videos <exercisevideos > Sent: Sunday, April 1, 2012 6:44 PM Subject: Today's 5.5 mile run It started out as a beautiful spring day and I had hopes of doing my 10 mile run, but of course by the time my breakfast digested and I was ready to go it was raining. I ran in the rain for 5.5 miles and called it good. I saw some fun very Portland-y things along my run. I saw 2 toy horses at different locations tied to the old horse rings on the sidewalks LOL. Also in the lovely Sunnyside neighborhood in a lower hole on an old tree there was a painted fairy and mushroom. When I got to Ladd's Addition, aka "The Vortex", I had to run through 4 different rose garden so as to not get lost and wind up in a parrallel universe someplace. Tomorrow will be interesting, as I try hot yoga at Core Power Yoga NW for the first time. I hope I don't pass out and that it's not too hoity toity (it's in the Pearl, a somewhat pretentious artsy-fartsy neighborhood). Details forthcoming tomorrow! Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Guest guest
Portland sounds so interesting, a lot like Ann Arbor here, which is a country unto itself, possibly it even qualifies as its own universe (but I would describe it as more perpendicular to ours, not parallel). The University of Michigan is spread out all over Ann Arbor (or A squared as it is often called or A2) which explains quite a lot. There are tons of 1 way streets too so it is extremely easy to get lost there too (luckily when you run you can run down the wrong way if you had too I suppose). Sounds like you had a fun run though. I'm looking forward to hearing about hot yoga. I've thought about trying it but I'm not keen on extreme temperatures and the idea of passing out in a yoga class seems too realistic for me! :-) I hope it goes well for you! Guest guest
It sounds like a great run. Nice to keep an eye on interesting things. My run is not so exciting in a nice way. I run in the evenings when the kids are going to bed with DH and I keep en eye out for safety. I don't want to get hit in the head KWIM? We live in a nice neighborhood but night time isn't really a great time to run alone. I am up to 2 miles now, (at 10/hr). Guest guest
, I would love to be able to run at night but my neighborhood is a bit.... questionable. I hope you take mace with you? A friend of mine bought me some specifically for running that you can easily grip in your hand with velcro... Hugs! It sounds like a great run. Nice to keep an eye on interesting things. Guest guest
That's a good idea. I am always afraid in the dark but I go out and try to be alert. I never listen to music to distract myself. I don't think it's safe for women. , I would love to be able to run at night but my neighborhood is a bit.... questionable. I hope you take mace with you? Guest guest
Great job on the run. Have you even ran 10 miles in the rain before? I've walked in the rain before because I got caught in a down pour...my neighbor laughed at me. Have fun in class...visiting the other side of the tracks....I don't care for that part of town (so-called upper-class.) Guest guest
Jen I've ran 10 miles in the rain for the Shamrock Run, but it ain't fun Looking forward to hot yoga tonite, but if I wear the shorts I brought (recommended) my my big gut will show. I guess I'll just have to go, beer gut and all, and do the work, it's my workout not theirs (one reason I like videos so much I can do yoga in a sports bra and underwear if I want to) Great job on the run.
