Guest guest
Yes, Marilyn, you might as well accept it; it most likely will not go away. My RA moved around to different parts of my body in the early stages. Now mine is very well controlled with one of the biologic DMARDs, Enbrel. I tried methotrexate first, and then Arava, but they lowered my white cell count too much. Enbrel is my magic bullet, and hopefully it will stay that way. I agree with you about prednisone. I took it a few months, but weaned myself off as soon as I could. Congratulations on your weight loss; that's quite an accomplishment. We have a couple of other people here who have had some kind of weight loss surgery. Welcome to the group. You will find the members very supportive, and our moderators a and keep us well informed about these awful diseases. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn, Welcome to the group. My name is Toni. I am also a bandster. How are you doing on the MTX with the band? I could not tolerate MTX pills or shots pre-band so post band was totally out of question. My rheummy will not give me oral pred to take either...due to risk of complications with the band. So I get injections...and then that is limited to 4 a year (or something like that). I am suppose to be on Humira...but it burns like acid in my skin for many hours after the injection...plus I get a huge hard red lump. So I stopped it. I was also on Plaquinil...but lost the script and it was not doing anything for me. My currently rheummy does not listen. I am waiting to see a new doc that just moved here...but I got a call that I need to move my appt farther away cause he is not on my ins yet. So I am thinking I may try the doc at the big medical center cause I am tired of all these quack docs. Well, its great to have a fellow bandster in the group. I have been doing well on the MTX. The peridzone or mtx doesn't seem to bother my band. How long have you had your band and how much have you lost? Do you feel loosing the weight helped the RA?
