Guest guest
I must be insane doing this to myself. I have completed the first week of Insanity. The fit test was OK, I didn't get sick. During the week I mixed up two days but I managed fine, but last night I couldn't finish the workout because we were going out and I had to stop. There is a warm up and stretch at the beginning of every workout (and end) and I don't know but warm up doesn't mean that my heart rate should go up to 160 LOL. I was dying from the warm up and the workout didn't even start yet. I am happy to report that I did not get sick. I have never been able to do more than one day in a row because the next day after the session I always got fever or sore throat or some combination of cold or flu and it took me about 1-2 weeks to recover. Only to get sick again for 2 more weeks when I got back to it. I did this for about 2 months last fall and then I gave up on it. This time I got in better shape with the aerobics I was doing since January but it was getting boring. Today was my rest day. I did not rest. I spent the entire day in the garden, rebuilt my rock garden, and helped DH with the green house project. I can't feel my legs and my allergies are back. I will just go to bed early tonight. I have been working on getting more sleep and I am getting there but there were a few nights where I ended up in bed at 4am. It's crazy. I am sorry I can't spend much time at the computer to post and join the conversations. A few weeks ago we found out that one of my sons has so many food allergies that we are having a hard time figuring out what we can actually feed him. He is very good at following the diet, he is asking everything if he can have it and if we say he can't he will not eat it. He is not happy about it but we are doing it together. The grocery bill when to the roof; the first week was the worst. I was crying at the store in the health food isle I was so lost. There is absolutely nothing that I can buy in a package from the freezer that I can warm up for him fast when we run out of food, or time to cook. It was the day I spent the whole afternoon cooking but the dinner didn't get ready. DH went shopping in the morning while I slept in and I thought he was going to look for food for my little guy but he forgot and didn't tell me. So when dinner time came, and son said he was hungry, the dinner was not done yet and I had to run out to the store to see if I can pick up something for him that we can give him quickly. And the 15 minute trip turned out an hour and 15 minutes and I still was reading every label on the shelves and couldn't find anything that didn't have what he wasn't allowed to eat. So it's gluten, dairy, eggs and soy, plus a few fruits and seeds. But what doesn't have dairy will have soy, what doesn't have soy will have eggs, what is egg free is not always gluten free... and it goes on and on and on. I have been learning to bake gluten free bread and cookies (they are all gross and not nutritious at all) and I need to find some cake for the wedding that will not taste like cardboard so he can have something. My sister is also gluten free but she can have milk and eggs. Since we started his special diet about 3 weeks ago, his allergies are worse. The supplements and medications both boys need is unbelievably expensive. So DH came up with the idea that we will grow our own food organically and will have fish too. So we have been spending a lot of time researching how to build the facility (we are going to farm fish in aquaponic greenhouse). We already have started to compost, but half of the stuff in it is Kleenex from all the allergies in this house. It is ridiculous. My dog had vestibular disease for a change, why not, right? I didn't have enough to deal with. She can't walk straight, she keeps falling and I have to carry her on the stairs otherwise she falls. Today she is getting better, she can shake her head without falling so that's an improvement. We hope it won't last long but we didn't really need those vet bills when we need it for our special food and supplements. She is stuck to me, kids need me too and I wish I could split into 3. Good thing DH isn't demanding me. ;0) Not complaining, just very very busy but I skim the messages that come in. I just can't write it takes too long to get through all of my messages. Guest guest
, so impressed you are doing Insanity again! I get exhausted just WATCHING Insanity! Do you have the Asylum workouts too?Sorry to hear about the complicated allergies hopefully with practice food shopping and cooking will get easier. Starting your own fish farm sounds intriguing! Hope your dog's health continues to improve too. Hugs and peace!
Guest guest
I don't know Asylum. Is it any good? I don't really enjoy Insanity. Every session has similar or the same exercises in the same order. It gets boring. I really should find a work out buddy but one friend is pregnant and the other has 4 boys and she is exhausted by the evening. I can't get out of bed early in the morning. I planned to go to bed early tonight but I am the tooth fairy tonight and I couldn't make it to bed. I made a t-shirt (machine kept tearing my thread I was so mad at it) and DH drew a boy tooth fairy which I edited on the computer and iron transferred it on the t-shirt. I just left the money. Lexi needs to go out to poop and I am ready to go. 2AM. I guess it's still earlier than 4AM. It's pathetic LOL. , so impressed you are doing Insanity again! I get exhausted just WATCHING Insanity! Guest guest
hi andrea! wow, doing insanity again? you've got guts! im sorry to hear all of the stuff you are dealing with. at zehrs we have trained people in the store to deal with allergy requests. in the health food section there should be someone there who can help you find the right products!! insist that people who work in the grocery stores or specialty food stores assist you! (at zehrs we are told to help with all questions and if we dont know the answer we are to search the store for someone who does!) for example, instead of soy or dairy milk they sell almond milk and other kinds as well..... we have gluten-free pepperoni sticks (brand is Freybe) in the cold deli.... the cold deli also has a vegetarian/vegan section that you can check (although most of that is soy-based but it is worth a look). oh it must be so hard and frustrating. hang in there and keep trying. ask for help!!! :*carolyn. Guest guest
Carolyn there was someone there but as I was reading the labels, the lasagna package popped open on the side that was closer to the floor and the entire contents landed on the floor. I cleaned it up as best as I could and told her what happened, it's not like I wanted to cover up and I didn't open it on purpose, but she looked at me like my head was made of a million worms. She kicked the remaining pieces under the shelf and I didn't feel I could ask for help without crying. So I didn't. That same trip to the store, I was waiting at the bread counter to find out where the gluten free bread was and the woman ignored me for 20 minutes. I didn't have any more time to wait for help, I thought I could find it myself instead of stand around and that's how I landed in the health food isle. What a crappy shopping experience that was. I found a few specialty stores in the area since then and spent several nights experimenting with recipes. My kids' piano teacher came over to help twice and gave me books (her family is celiac) but it took a few days to calm down. Now I just have to make sure I have enough food cooked so we can always have something to eat but we can't go out for sushi anymore. I miss that. > hi andrea! wow, doing insanity again? you've got guts! > > im sorry to hear all of the stuff you are dealing with. at > zehrs we have trained people in the store to deal with allergy > requests. in the health food section there should be someone > there who can help you find the right products!! insist that > people who work in the grocery stores or specialty food stores > assist you! Guest guest
Superstore. I don't shop there much but someone told me there was gluten free stuff on the health food isle. I am wondering why there are so many people allergic to gluten and other foods. Dairy I know but plants? When I was a kid nobody every knew anyone with allergies. Here everybody has some kind of allergy, to food or pollen, or cats, or dust... We have an emergency food supply in the basement but none of it is gluten free and not really healthy (canned food is not healthy). We figured in case of emergency when we need to eat to survive, healthy food choice is not the first priority. This gluten free egg free dairy free crap just puts another spin on it. We are planning to visit our Chinese dr who got rid of my allergies for 10 years. I never had to be on a modified diet to get rid of allergies. Maybe she can do something for the kids and DH too. Insanity week #2 here I come. I'm scared LOL. > >> Carolyn there was someone there > OMG! was that at a zehrs store? if anyone acted like that at > our store (stratford) they would get fired! customers will, and > do, complain very loudly! > unfortunately not everyone is a good employee and not every store > is the best it could be > :*carolyn. > > > ------------------------------------ > >
