Guest guest
Mark, Personally, I'd stay away from Lexapro. I took it for one year and after I stopped taking Lexapro I all but completely lost interest in sex. Even when I had sex it only really felt good for a second or two around orgasm. After losing interest in sex I lost interest in a lot of other things as well. Lexapro will cure depression however. I can't really remember anymore what depression feels like. The down side is that I feel like a cold emotionless drone - I don't remember what much of anything else feels like either. I'm trying different things to reverse it. Small doses of Zoloft seem to help. Wellbutrin may be something else I'll try. Right now I'm willing to try anything to get my emotions and sexuality back. My advice? Deal with depression without resorting to SSRI's. It's not easy but it beats the side effects. Go out and get laid; become a shallow, self-centered prick; just stay away from SSRI's. Chris Subject: LexaproTo: SSRIsex Date: Friday, April 18, 2008, 10:25 AM A friend of mine knows I still struggle with depression but have been of SSRI meds (after only being on them for 6 months max).....she suggests I take Lexapro, but reading the sides it states sexual dysfunction like anorgasm etc. I'm not that incapacitated with depression-- -just get the blues and don't seem to have the ability to move my life forward with energy or willfullness. I haven't exercised much at all--and my diet sucks. I know that must be addressed--- but would anyone say Lexapro is the way to go---or stay away from them altogether? Thanks for your input. Guest guest
hey Vernon how long has it taken people in the past to reverse this type of pssd using meds? how long will it take for this trash to effect me Subject: Re: lexaproTo: SSRIsex Date: Friday, February 13, 2009, 4:16 AM hmmm...that is strange. Prozac has a very long half-life so it kind of has a built-in taper, but obviously something adverse happened despite that. I wonder how this type of PSSD relates to the one most of us get (while still on the drugs)? Is it basically the same mechanism, or is there a fundamental difference between the two? I thought this "Type 2 PSSD" (for want of a better name) was very rare, but maybe much more people have it than I initially assumed. It sounds like you haven't tried going back on anything yet?Vornan> > > > >> > > > > I was on lexapro for 10 months a 10mg daily. Guest guest
I've heard of people getting a reversal in a few days. But like I said before, there is also the possibility that you will get no effect, or more side effects. I would not stay on it for more than a week if you see no improvements. The problem is, of course, that we have no way to examine or measure what is going on. Vornan > > > > > > > > > > > > I was on lexapro for 10 months a 10mg daily.
