Guest guest
hi nancy - congrats on your new training assignment at WW. it is nice to have a new challenge to look forward to. and it is great that they train you to be the trainer. you are going to really enjoy doing that kind of work for them.... sounds like it is right up your alley. i am freaking out a bit about my deli job because this weekend im supposed to be putting on a promotional event for beemster cheese (expensive gouda imported from holland) including contests for customers and employees at both the store and national level. sounds like fun, but ive been given zero materials (except for the cheese itself), zero prep time and zero support from my deli boss (she is on vacation). i wasnt too worried about training employees despite not having the company course to be their trainer. but i dont have any experience in putting on frigging promo events! it seems in most things there, im thrown into the pool and told to sink or swim. and all for barely over minimum wage... i make $10.45 an hour and work my ass off. argh!!! im thinking about quitting and going to work at tim hortons where things appear to be much more straight-forward. im sure that WW treats you much better, you are lucky to work there, :*carolyn. Guest guest
Yikes, Carolyn! I'm sure you will do fine though b/c you have such a good personality (I know that sounds weird coming from someone who has never met you in person -but I can really tell by your e-mails that you would be a great person to talk to and very easy to approach - so I think you'll do fine!) Maybe Tim Horton's would be good though - can you get freebies? Guest guest
Ugh, I'm sorry you're going through so much stress at work, it sounds like they really take advantage of you and don't appreciate how much you really do for them. I would be totally clueless as to how to do a promo event like that....I hope it goes well for you this weekend! Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear about the new craziness at work for you! That is nuts that they'd have you plan this event with absolutely no support materials, especially with it being as big as it sounds. We joke about WW being "paid volunteer work" and gripe about poor communication from the corporate office a lot but they really are good to work for most of the time (and when I've done health fairs for them, they always send me with plenty of support materials). Good luck figuring out what to do, I wish I had some ideas for you. I do have hugs though (((Carolyn)))!! Guest guest
thanks everyone for listening to my angst over the cheese event i am putting on at the store tomorrow, and for your support! i swear that my friends here are the only support that i get! i have been working very hard (alot of it in unpaid hours) to make the event a success. my store manager is uncertain that things are going to work out, but he doesnt know me very well. i have recruited a person to blow up helium balloons and to get me a table, but that is all that i have been able to delegate. there are supposed to be two people running the show, but i am on my own.... OMG, today and tomorrow are going to be hell, but it will be over after noon tomorrow. wish me luck!!! i hope that one of my dutch relatives wins the draw that im giving for $200 worth of free dutch cheese! LOL :*c.
