Guest guest
I've discovered the joys of an evening run/walk up the neighborhood hill. Right now I'm kinda slow, but that hill is pretty steep, so it's good cardio. It's an 1100 feet climb in about 5 miles thanks to the Hayward Fault. I have a 5k coming up in a few weeks, and impact is still iffy because of my " bum " glut. I like to head out in the evening. There's enough of an elevation that I get some pretty views of Castro Valley at night (the neighboring town). Right now my run intervals are very short and tentative. I invested in shoes because my current shoes are breaking down. I could feel the impending doom on my last 16 mile walk, so I'm retiring them. I've busted up my feet before, so this is important. Plus, I can justify the cost because I wear out shoes and bike tires, but not car tires. has a new line of minimal shoes that have a bit more support and cushioning, which is what I need for distances and for higher impact. The think I like best is the heel. They don't have raised heels, and the heel is rounded for folks who prefer a mid foot strike. That's me: mid foot strike. So far I love all three pairs. We'll see how they work out as I increase distances again. For the road: Purple!http://zapp.me/7864574Also for longer distances: black and blue:http://zapp.me/7864589 And for the trail: Pretty blue!http://zapp.me/7864598Yay!
