Guest guest
I had wanted to do Pyramid Upper Body today but when I woke up, something inside me said, "Don't. Conserve your energy, you need it for healing." I'm not sure how it is that I felt that I "heard" that but I really think I did. I hope I did anyway. Or maybe I wanted a "reason" for a lighter day! ;-) In any case, I heeded the message and immediately thought of the PowerFit workouts instead. Gentle, not stressful, still working out but not working too hard. I had 2 from the original series I hadn't done yet and time and energy enough for 40 minutes of it. I didn't like yesterday's workout but wanted to at least try all the workouts in the set (and most of the others had been "okay" to even "pretty good"). Program 3 is Chest, Triceps and Butt and Program 4 is Back, Biceps and Thighs. Both were closer to intermediate than beginner and both were good. There was creative but effective use of the band with traditional and not so traditional exercises, variety and a good pace. My only criticism is that doesn't always cue the side you're on or detailed enough instructions so I had to think a bit too much about "Are we on this side or did I already do this one?" and I had to back it up a couple of times for one or two exercises because I wasn't sure how she was doing it (and then she'd actually explain it when she got to the same exercise on the other side, after I'd already finally figured out how to do it). Those were minor issues though. I'm not sure how often I'll turn to these workouts once I'm back up to full strength but now I'm thinking with one or two exceptions (of the ones I've tried so far) they're good to have when I need recovery/injury mode workouts and I'm not in the mood for (which I wasn't today). Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow. Maybe one from PowerFit Harmony I haven't tried yet. Will see where I'm at physically & time-wise tomorrow. Tomorrow is a busy day but I should have time for 20 minutes without squashing it in too much I think. Today has been another, overall good day. My heels still ache terribly but the pain in my toes hasn't come nearly as often or as intensely and working out felt good overall. I see the doc tomorrow morning to see where I'm at and to decide whether or not PT will be worth pursuing. Will post an update and workout report when I can.
