Guest guest
Ken, I know it's sometimes hard to stay upbeat when we have so much against us and feel there's nothing to do about it. You could have fixed the leg problem by anticipating a long delay at the VA, but who would know it will happen. If you come prepared for a long stay, you would go straight through and be home before the doors closed. You know, 's Law and all that. I got a computerized call from the hospital on Saturday evening about an appointment Monday at 12:30 for an EKG. It didn't mention another appointment at 3 PM with my doctor after that! I went there expecting to spend a few minutes and then come home for lunch. Well, it didn't turn out that way; I ate lunch at 3:30. There were a number of other 'happenings' during that time that have me fuming, but I don't know what to do about it yet. Oh, well, things will fall into place when they are supposed to. It's a shame we're so far apart. I have 3 Aerostar vans sitting here doing almost nothing. I'm going to pilfer from them to get one in good shape, and other parts to update my 1964 Econoline van. I'd give one of them to you, but it's a long way from here to there. How hard would it be to find one locally that will work for you? I'd be happy to donate to the fund, and I'm sure some of the others may follow suit. I'm on 100% disability, like you, but don't have the help of the VA to keep costs down, but I can sell a few more aluminum cans for the cause. Am I speaking out of turn, or are there some of you that will be willing to help Ken get some help with his transportation? Or, is it against group policy? Dennis Re: [ ] Re: Ken...reply from ken, to and kids, and every one else Greetings! Yes, you are right!!! Sometimes I go into the V.A.(like a few days ago). and have to wait and wait, and wait....and in the meantime, my broken leg starts really hurting, because, like a fool, I didn't think it would take so long, and I left my pain meds home...and slowly, my foot and leg starts swelling, ans soon, it's turning purple, because I AM supposed to keep it elevated....AND I WAS ON TIME for my appointment.....and it ends up taking ALL DAY....IT REALLY IS A CAUSE FOR GREAT DISTRESS!!!!!!!!! bUT, WHAT ELES CAN i DO? i AM IOO PERCENT DISABLD, IN A WHEELCHAIR,.........and no one seems to care! I can't afford to buy OTHER insurance, because I am on a fixed income, which barely gets me by.....I have just plain given up, on " finding " a Philanthropist, or program to help me get a wheelchair van, or even justnsome used piece of junk van, so I can get OUT of my house a little.......so here I sit, my only communication the grand people on this group!!!! It is very depressing to know that thw world does NOT care about handicapped vets, and no one WILL help me to " have a normal " life....like getting out, once in a while!!!! Sorry to go on so long like this....I just get so " down " , being alone, and housebound so much! I bless those of you who do contact me! It is the ONLY thing that keeps me from " doing something stupid! (I will not elaborate). So, to all of you who are my friends.....have a great day, and THANK YOU for caring! With all my love....(I'm an ol' hippie, haha) ...ken N2kids@... wrote: In a message dated 5/15/2006 8:31:51 AM Central Standard Time, dreamer_plus@... writes: My dh is 100% service connected permanant, total, so he gets his all his care there, has for years. The scary part is since he is 100% permanant total and service connected he rates at priority 1. I shudder to think how it might be here for those not 1st priority. yeah i hate to think how they treat the ppl who arent priority 1... geez.
