Guest guest
Greetings! Yes, you are right!!! Sometimes I go into the V.A.(like a few days ago). and have to wait and wait, and wait....and in the meantime, my broken leg starts really hurting, because, like a fool, I didn't think it would take so long, and I left my pain meds home...and slowly, my foot and leg starts swelling, ans soon, it's turning purple, because I AM supposed to keep it elevated....AND I WAS ON TIME for my appointment.....and it ends up taking ALL DAY....IT REALLY IS A CAUSE FOR GREAT DISTRESS!!!!!!!!! bUT, WHAT ELES CAN i DO? i AM IOO PERCENT DISABLD, IN A WHEELCHAIR,.........and no one seems to care! I can't afford to buy OTHER insurance, because I am on a fixed income, which barely gets me by.....I have just plain given up, on " finding " a Philanthropist, or program to help me get a wheelchair van, or even justnsome used piece of junk van, so I can get OUT of my house a little.......so here I sit, my only communication the grand people on this group!!!! It is very depressing to know that thw world does NOT care about handicapped vets, and no one WILL help me to " have a normal " life....like getting out, once in a while!!!! Sorry to go on so long like this....I just get so " down " , being alone, and housebound so much! I bless those of you who do contact me! It is the ONLY thing that keeps me from " doing something stupid! (I will not elaborate). So, to all of you who are my friends.....have a great day, and THANK YOU for caring! Guest guest
, I can understand your problems with the VA. Are you military disabled or is your problems more recent? We are retired military and have other coices than the VA. The military has not met their obligations to their service members and I bet that is a big factor in the present members. Too many people who would otherwise enlist will not due to this. When we retired 1980 my husband was immediately put in a VA hospital. Before retiring we had all our all our allotments set up to cover bills. Then they kept him in the hospital for more than 90 days. 90 days makes you 100% for that time frame. The were still in the process of changing his status to retired and we had not gotten a check from anyone. So at 100% all the VA disability pay is taken from his retirement pay. That means the member pays ALL their disability money. At that point the paper work took his VA money from his retirement pay which meant there was not enough to cover the allotments left in his retirement pay. Bottom line, we lost all the allotments and cannot reinstate them after retirement. Here we were 90 days since retirment, NO money at all and the bills that the allotment was supposed to cover were 90 days overdue. It took another couple of months to straighten out the pay system so that we received any money. Welcome to retirement! And the hospitalization did absolutely nothing in the way of helping him medically. While he was in the hospital they admitted a man with hives really bad all over his body. He had just been on penecyllian, but they didn't take that into consideration. The itch was driving him crazy. After about 3-4 days no doctor had seen him and all he was getting was warm baths or some such. My husband decided after talking with him to give him some Benadryl. Penacillian should have been their first clue. It helped him so much a few hours later he was beggin my husband for more, so he gave him another. When that one was gone the rash was clearing but still driving him nuts. My husband was able to leave the hospital for a few hours so he went to a drugstore and bought some Benadryl and gave it to the man. After a few more days the rash had cleared and itches were gone. He still had not seen a doctor, but they saw he was all better so he didn't need a doctor. They discharged him and he STILL had not seen a , I can understand your problems with the VA. Guest guest
I'm on a roll, can I vent some more without anyone hating me forever here? Ihad been pres of our local Marine Corps League Aux. (we began our charter, even) and I also was recognized state level for my hours of volunteer service. I had the most hours of vol service for our state 2 years ago. Then my RA hit even harder and my mom got sick.....and then dh got sicker..... My detachment was looking for " worthy " services to provide, they wanted to..?? mow lawns, rake leaves....drive ppl to VA appts. They said they were having a hard time finding ppl to help. I said well gosh, I have a very difficult time at home, my dh is totally unable to do anything, mostly bedridden, and mentally not there.my kids, well 2 of them are unable tohelpmuch, and I have been so sick, we were cited by village for not cutting our grass fast enough, short enough, I need help getting dh and kids to their appts to their specialists and truth is raising kids on disabilty is very hard, any kind of help would be wonderful. And gosh, my cry for help came BEFORE everything got really hairy. My detachment laughed, thought I was being silly, how could WE need help- they wanted to go find someone else tohelp- well, I hung in there and continued to be pres of my detachment and still tried to do what I could everywhere....but things really got terribly difficult here.and I again cried out for help. Especially after my son poked out his eyeball and dh landed in ICU etc. I still got NOTHING back. I am no longer even a member of my MCL at all. I feel SO supremely let down. Aw heck, they did not even send a flipping card to my dh when he was in ICU nor acknowledge my sons injury- 2 9 hour surgeries, loss of his eye....me driving him weekly 5 hours each way while trying to also care for dh, all while I was using a flipping scooter for myself....Yeesh. Nope, right ta the moment, I do not feel like anyone is treating any of the vets all so great, and worse, the nephew I raised as my own son cuz his family did not want him is now doing his 3rd tour of Iraq with the Marines. Even if he stays safe there, how will it be for him later? - In , <betnden@...> wrote: > > Ken, I know it's sometimes hard to stay upbeat when we have so much against > us and feel there's nothing to do about it. Guest guest
Dennis, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your answer! You really ARE quite a man! There are a LOT of guys out there, but VERY FEW MEN, in comparison, know what I mean? The only thing I COULD have " going " for me, is that if, by some miricle, I DO get some kind of van, the manufacturer of C hrysler, and Ford will pay to have the needed changes , to make the van wheelchair easy! Ha! First I have to get the van, hahaha! Your offer shows me that there STILL ARE people who care, and I Bless you, and thank you! But....right about now we are so broke, my wife had to cut the bottoms of my pockets out, just so I had something to play with! hahahaha! Well, anyway(folks tell me I'm crazy...they COULD be right, haha! , well, anyway, thank you for being the person you are! I an VERY GLAD to be able to csall you " friend " ....because you truly ARE!. Maybe, some day, God will smile down on me, and get me " wheels " , but, til;l then, I just have to be patient.... God Bless you, Dennis! All my love to you.......ken reamer_plus <dreamer_plus@...> wrote: I'm on a roll, can I vent some more without anyone hating me forever here? Ihad been pres of our local Marine Corps League Aux.
