Guest guest
Angie: Within the first few years of having RA, I began to feel muscle pain along with the joint pain. My doctor at that time said that she would not be surprised if I had fibromyalgia starting up, but she did not diagnose me or do any of the trigger point tests. I hope that you do not have FM too along with RA, but it is not uncommon. Then in the last two years, I have had two new rheumys (my first doctor left the area - she was great but was not a specialist), and they have both tested me for fibromyalgia by trigger points (I have majority of them), as well as listening to my syptoms of muscle aching, pain, burning, spasm, lack of concentration and cognitive troubles, etc. I am on medications for both the RA and Fibro, different meds entirely except for Ultram which is my pain med, and helps with both. Your legs being sensitive to shower spray does sound like FM, and you definately need to look into this. Is your doctor a rheumy? If not, then that is who you should see next. I don't think there are any blood tests for FM, but physical testing is done and that can show FM. Look into the archives of this group and I am sure you will find a lot of material on FM, it has been spoken of quite a bit, as there are many here who have both RA and FM. Best of luck - and talk to your doctor about your symptoms - keep a pain journal too, noting how much pain you are having, where the pain is, what kind of pain, joint or muscle, does weather increase or decrease the pain, all of that will be helpful to your doctor.
