Guest guest
Debbie: Most likely, that old theater is full of a type of mold that you are allergic to, which is why you itch for hours after you go there. My suggestion would be to avoid that theater. I worked on mold cases in a law firm for 4 years and I've been in many moldy places. We used to have to inspect every building, but then we quit doing it because we had symptoms ranging from severe itching and rashes to headaches, nosebleeds and sinus problems. I don't know anything about the rx that you're asking about, but if you can avoid the problem altogether (assuming it IS the theater) then you won't need the rx. Hope this helps. Have a blessed day! Whenever we go to our local older theatre I get very itchy within hours afterward. It is so severe it stops the effects of my sleep meds. Benadryl and Zyrtec don't help anymore. So I stay awake and scratch all night. A web site I looked at said Doxepin is used for that and would help me sleep. When I saw my pcp today he checked lab work but wouldn't give me the Doxepin. Tomorrow I will call my allergist for it. If anyone has taken Doxepin, let me know how it helped you. thanks, Debbie L
Guest guest
HI , Thanks for responding. The theatre is about 15-20 years old. Last Sept I was retested for allergies and they came back normal.I used to be allergic to dust and my current allergic thought that was the cause. Now my pcp wants me to see the clinic's allergist so I might get tested again. We are both movie buffs so it will be hard to give up that one. I told my husband we should go in the afternoon so I can take a shower afterward. That seemed to help it. hugs, Debbie L Round Rock, Texas > > Debbie: > > Most likely, that old theater is full of a type of mold that you are allergic to, which is why you itch for hours after you go there. Guest guest
Debbie: Everything you are saying points to the theater. Perhaps you could go to a newer one? And, yes, if you shed your clothing and take a shower as soon as you get back from that theater, you probably won't have as much of a reaction or maybe none at all. Pleae be sure to throw your clothes in the wash right away. (And remember that whatever you transport back from the theater can get into your duct system at home.) I am not sure what meds you are on, but most of the drugs we all take can lower your immune system. Airborne molds not only get on your skin, you breathe them in. They can get in your bloodstream and some strains, like stachybotrys, can make you extremely ill. Did you know that the " mummy's curse " where all those that visited the tomb in the 30s died within weeks/months was most likely caused from molds in the tomb that those men were exposed to and breathed in while they were in there? I'm not trying to alarm you, but I have seen some people get really sick. If your immune system is already compromised, why take that chance? I know, I probably sound like your mother here, but I'm just concerned. My husband is an insulin dependent diabetic and I try to be cautious (although not ridiculous or outright radical) about things we might get exposed to. Something to think about. Big hug back at ya, lady! Alvin, Texas deebs87 <dlohf@...> wrote: HI , Thanks for responding. The theatre is about 15-20 years old.
