Lucky is very cute!  I also liked Goldie Locks (and all the pugs :)

Hi Everyone,I'm sorry in advance, but I'm going to be brief (had a dentist apptmt this morning and tons of work for my job and home today!)- today was a rest day on my Tracie Long rotation - so I did yoga instead - I had borrowed Shiva Rea's Yoga For Beginners at the library and did the whole 70 min practice this morning! It is easily broken down into parts - there are several chapters: warm-up flow, beginner backbend flow, flexibility flow, standing poses and shavasana. This one was one of Shiva's easiest to follow routines. She also showed good beginner modifications. I may think about getting this one for my collection if I can find a trade for it!

Oh -on the dog search front, I'm having much more luck w/ an all-breed rescue - we passed our home visit and we're " pre-approved " to adopt.  On Sunday we're

going to meet " Lucky " - here's her picture (scroll down they are in alphabetical order!) We are also interested in Bogart and Nala. Goldie is interesting to me, but she looks too Chow...and Chows can be aggressive.

WOW, that's a long yoga routine. I don't think I could even do that. Good for you.

I LOVE all the dogs on the web site.

Goldie was one I thought about but i'm on the fence b/c she looks like she is part Chow and Chows can be aggressive (but Shar Pei's could also- and Shenan was a mix of Shar Pei and some other breeds) Goldie also looks like a furrier version of Shenan so in a way I'm looking for something completely different, if that makes sense?I"m a big dog sucker and I like Bogart and Nala, too.

I love all Fuzzers but I am definitely a cat person   =^..^=For dogs I tend to like the little buddies, the yippers - papillon, llaso apso, shitzu, pomeranians, pugs, etc.

Oh, I'm a BIG dog person, even Shenan was "small" to me at around 40 lbs!

That is my problem, too! I really like Bogart (the St. Bernard Mix, but I have a "thing" for big dogs!) - but wants a playful dog (and Bogart sounds very low key) which may make Nala a good fit. We're meeting Lucky this weekend, unless something goes awry, I'm pretty sure we'll adopt her - she sounds like a sweetie! stephanie really wants a puppy-puppy but I'm not sure I can handle the work. Lucky is about 6 months old, they say, so she is still young/puppy-ish, but well on her way to being able to be trained. The foster mom says she is crate and house trained already. I have never used a crate, but I was thinking of getting one - sometimes dogs are more comfortable in their crates (kind of like a 'den" for them). Do you or have you used a crate?Donna

hi donna - ive never crated any dog that ive owned, but that is

just me and my way.

alot of people do use crates successfully and if your new dog has

already been trained for the crate, then it is probably

beneficial to continue using one. i know that you will

research it and will ask the foster about the process they are

already using with the dog.

ive always kept large dogs and large crates are pricey, so ive

used baby gates to contain pups to a certain area instead.

(which i had on hand anyway to block my little kids from

stairways).

my dad and my brother did crate some of their dogs at night but

they were handy and made their own crates - my dad made one using

an old baby crib LOL

Hi Carolyn,

I never crated either - I had a Newfie at one time and although her "mom" did give us a crate when we adopted her, we never used it. Shenan was fine w/out one. I like the baby gate idea...I still have those lying around. Honestly, I never had a problem w/out a crate, but the foster said she likes her crate....I guess I'll find out more. I generally go for hte larger breeds, too. Shenan was the smallest dog I owned - she was 40-45 lbs at her peak.
