Hi Lynda. You'll be an expert by the time you get through our

archives! Here is some info on

arthritis and the neck. I've had nodules, but they have never been

symmetrical.

Fatigue is tied to pain, but in cases of chronic fatigue syndrome,

there is no pain involved.

Do you have a definite RA diagnosis?

HI Lynda,

I am with a on that my nodules are not

symmetrical either. In fact, my joint pain isnt always

symmetrical either. It dosnt suprise me that you

would have pain in your neck, as RA can effect ANY

connective tissue. I learned this the hard

(expensive) way, by going to the emergency room with

chest pain, only to find out it was RA in my sternum.

My doc later explained that all those places where

your ribs contact your sternum are connective tissue,

which is just another lovely place arthritis can

attack. I had the same experience with my tailbone

(but I did have the good sense not to go to the ER

because of pain in my ass!) As for the fatigue, Ive

had that many times where I wasnt in much pain. You

certainly found yourself in the right place for info.

Good luck and good health.

I am very seldom symmetrical. I had a nodule on a left finger for awhile. Now I

have one on my right elbow.

My pain moves around so much to so many places, it can make me dizzy just trying

to track it, LOL. SOmetimes it is a left foot, a right wrist, a left thumb, a

right index finger, a left shoulder.

the next day it can be totally entirely different. Some days are not too bad,

and usually only one thing is really bad.....mostly a wrist - my wrists seem to

be my worst. But I think my shoulders upset me the most.

And yes, I did one time have a problem with it in my sternum, quite a long time

ago, and YIKES, I was scared I was having a heart attack.

SOmeone asked about larynx, I never had it in larynx, but did have it in hyoid

in neck-throat.and it was really scary, thought I would aspirate, choke to

death.

One of these days something besides RA problem is gonna be wrong with me and it

is gonna get worse on me while I sit here and complain that it is just some new

place for the RA to disturb. <sigh>

I am never sure if the fatigue is from the RA, from the meds, from the pain,

from the disrupted sleep due to pain, or relief when the pain lets up, and I can

get a chance to get some rest.

My life sure has gotten interesting....wondering what will flare next. Kinda

like living in the chicago area and always wondering what the weather will be, I

wonder what body part is gonna fail me for a few hours.

I think the hardest part is trying to figure out day to day how to work around a

new and different body part flaring. Just when I think I figure it out, the

affected body part changes.

Oh wow--thank you so much. Your posts are really helping me so much.

Trying to get information from websites--even the good ones you all

come up with--is just so hard.

Oh--and that tailbone thing??? I seem to have had that--a couple

months ago I had lots of pain, over a few weeks in fact, just my

tailbone. It was so weird. I had NO idea what to think about that

(but I did not go to the ER either--phew).

I'm trying now to think about whether I've had symptoms in the past I

haven't reported " right, " but that might have been RA all along. For

instance, I did go to the ER once, thinking I was having a heart

attack, and they, basically, patted me on the head and said it was in

the wrong place.

And then once I had what my doc decided was costochondritis.

So, I'm working on geting educated, and also right now I'm looking

into gentle yoga classes--I need to try to do something about the neck

as well as the hands and this seems like it might be something that

has helped people.

As to the pain and the tiredness, well, I don't remember who posted

this, but a couple beers does sound mighty nice this achy fatigued

late afternoon........
