Guest guest
Yes, Debbie, I have heard that these patches stay on quite well when you move about. Never tried one, so can't tell you from personal experience, but I sure have wanted to at times. They are a bit pricey, but if you have that much pain, perhaps it would be worth the investment. I hope that ice works for you, if not, then switch to heat - hopefully one of them will help your pain, but it does seem like your knees are in worse condition than I first thought, so it might not help all that much. Also, you have had a lot of positive responses regarding the shot. I had a shot to the sacroiliac joint in my back, and it really helped me, and my husband has had lumbar infusions for disc degeneration and they helped him too. Maybe the shot is worth some reconsideration? Your description of the bones in your knees rubbing together must be extremely painful, and I am surprised no bony changes were found on x-ray. Maybe a MRI would help diagnosis the problem better? Just something for you to think about. --- deebs87 <dlohf@...> wrote: > Hi Kathe, > Thanks for answering my post. Guest guest
Debbie, the Lidoderm patches are the only ones I've used on my knee, they stay on so-so. I put them on the back of my knee, and try to cut them so they don't have to bend in the middle. A bit awkward, but they certainly do work! I use those patches everywhere, I can use up to three at a time - at various times, my knee, my hip, my lower back, my upper back, my shoulder, my chest . . . sometimes I cut them in half so I can put them more places. Since they're prescription, I only have to pay my co-pay for a big box of them, which makes them quite reasonable, price-wise. I tried using capezin (spelling ?) patches and cream, the patch on my back. It burned! I had red marks for a couple of weeks. The cream was almost as bad on my knee, I ended up washing it off in a couple of hours when I couldn't stand it any longer. My rheumy says I just have sensitive skin, most people don't have any problem with them. If you were close enough, I'd have an almost untouched tube you could have. I also found that using my cane all the time, even when I feel like I don't really need it, helps keep the pain down. When I sit, I try to put my leg up with a pillow under the knee, and at night (I sleep on my side), I put a pillow under the knee. Anything that will put less stress on the knee. I do hope you find something that helps the pain, it's so hard to not use your knees!
