Guest guest
Hello all from Oregon! I have been a lurker here for a couple of months and am so impressed with the help offered to those of us with RA and other debilitating diseases. Thank you all very much! I am writing to inquire about numbness in my hand. I have had tingling and needles n' pins feeling in my left hand for about a month now, but it seems to be getting worse with total numbness in 3 of my fingers. I saw some posts about neuropathy but have not done any research on it. Since this numbing has gotten progressively worse I am now wondering if it may be caused by my meds. I tk Methotrexate and 5mg of prednisone. Altho my Dr. tells me to take the prednisone " as needed " . I usually tk 2 daily and none on the weekends. Has anyone else had experience with this numbing feeling? I will see my Dr. about it but cant get in until June 6th, am worried about it getting worse before then tho. Thanks for letting me vent..and thanks for all your help. I wish you all a wonderful day! wrote: There are 25 messages in this issue. Topics in this digest: 1. I am so sorry for all your pain. I have had Demerol but only in the hospital. I found it really worked well for pain, but made me goofy as all get out. Some of the hospitals around here no longer rx Demerol, and I'm not sure why ...I think they found it increased a risk of seizure, but that was in post-op use. I have a good friend on Morphine, and though it makes her nauseated, it does help with the pain. I am glad you are back with us, . Love... Guest guest
Hi . Sounds like you have carpel tunnel. I have it in my right hand and my doctor said it was common with RA. The only cure is surgery, which I am not found of. Take care nancy <rainbo38800@...> wrote: Hello all from Oregon! Guest guest
Where did you get your splints? I found some at Target but I don't think it is helping. Are your fingertips out? Still looking for a more comfortable pair. thanks. Ebony > >> > >> > >> In a message dated 4/29/06 2:53:27 PM, rainbo38800@ writes: > >> > >> > >> > I am writing to inquire about numbness in my hand. Guest guest
I have a couple different types of splints. (and some are black and some are flesh colored, LOL) One has a place to hold and support my thumb. (my thumbs sometimes flare badly) I also have these elasticy fingerless glove things I wear sometimes, and LOL- my kids got me terry cloth wrist sweat bands, believe it or not they seem to help give my wrist support in a day and look " cool " too. Then they even found these finger things that are just like the terry cloth wrist sweat bands- decorated (one has a ?Nintendo character on it) and I found they are nice if one of my fingers is swollen, and cute to boot, LOL. I also wear my " gloves " or wrist splints if I am going somewhere where people might want to shake my hand.it makes them be far more gentle with my hands and wrists and fingers. I got mine at..Target, WalMart, KMart, Walgreens, Osco, my docs office, same area where you get ace bandages. - In , " Ebony " <stillbreathing29@...> wrote: > > Where did you get your splints? I don't remember the name off-hand. Next time I go, I'll get the name of the company again. They were a little more expensive than the drug store variety, but not much (I think they were $30 each, rather than $20-something at CVS) but they don't have the metal stay in them that the pharmacy ones have. So they keep my wrists from curling while I sleep, but they aren't hard or uncomfortable. She didn't want me in something rigid or more restrictive while I'm sleeping in case my hands swell at night. I have the elastic " fingerless gloves " with the stretch wrist band too. They aren's stiff enough to keep my wrists from curling at night, but I use them just as you do... if my hands are flaring.. during the day. ESPECIALLY on Sundays, for church. You are right, they keep those big guys with the crushing hand shakes from destroying my hands!<g>
Guest guest
It was given to me by a lady I work with.. it is all elastic the fingers are out. and it gives such comfort. She told me she got it at Wal-Mart. [ ] Re: Digest Number 5362 > Where did you get your splints? I found some at Target but I don't > think it is helping. Are your fingertips out?
