Guest guest
I would ask about other programs. There is a program that I could have gone through that would have cut my cost in half. For all the good it did as I have 3 or 4 doses in the fridge I can't use. Shandi [ ] No humira for this chick:( My rheumy wanted me to start on Humira, again. I was on the Humira assistance program before. Now, I'm on the Plan D program w/ medicare, and can't afford the cost. Now, I don't qualify for the assistance program w/ Humira, really sucks. I sure can't pay out the pocket for it. So, I'm wondering what to do next. Is anyone on Medicare with the plan D, and on Remicade, that is my next move? Thanks so much for the info, Tawny
Guest guest
I recently had a phone call from someone who was taking a survey on how RA patients were faring on Medicare's Plan D. Since I'm not on Plan D, I couldn't participate. But I wonder what the purpose of the survey is. Are they going to improve things? Probably not. I'm glad that I still have my free state insurance as supplementary, and my Enbrel is covered with a $50 per month co-pay. Guest guest
Hi Shandi, I am not sure what other programs. I am waiting until my next rheumy appointment and go from there. The plan D is good in a lot of ways, but not when it comes to expensive meds. Thanks for your info, T
Guest guest
I'm in the same position. I don't qualify for the assistance program because I'm on Plan D. I am on a fixed income with SSDI, but apparently, my income level is above $13,000/year so I don't qualify for help with the other sources I have tried so far. Now that it's a new year, we have that fricking doughnut hole to go through AGAIN. I have one dose of Humira left in my fridge and an appt with the rheumy next week. I'll post here if he comes up with some kind of solution. I can't afford to buy it, either. Guest guest
That would be nice if they improved things for the better:) I'm glad your able to get your Enbrel, not bad at all. It seems to be working well for you. I would like to try it, but no way I can afford that one either:( Oh well, back to the drawing board, have a nice day, T
Guest guest
Joanne, You let me know what you doc says. I see the rheumy in Feb, and I'll try to find out more. My liver enzymes are always high, so its hard to take most of the RA meds. The Humira didn't really bother the liver when I was on it before. Are income is too high to receive any other help, so it's just Plan D, and not much option, which is really sad. Keep me posted, and good luck at the doc, Tawny
Guest guest
There was a program offered buy Humira which gave you $300 off each month for 6 months. It looks like an insurance card. I do not know if they are still offering it...but I would ask your rheummy as well as call Humira. I got it but them stopped humira and never used it. Now Ihave a new rheummy that seems to be a total idiot...and so far I am on NO freakin meds! Toni
Guest guest
Hi Toni, I did call Humira, and when they found out I had plan D, they told me I didn't qualify. They just brushed me off, with no explanation. I'm wondering about Remicade, I'm thinking I pay 20% of it. So, your seeing a new rheumy, huh? That sounds like the rheumy I just got rid of, I've been off RA meds for a long time. Hey, I wonder if he moved to TX,lol Are you on any meds? Take care, Tawny
Guest guest
TAwny, The only meds I am on so far is Lodine XL. Which is an NSAID that is it. I was looking and I found a prescription for Humira. I guess I lost it, forgot about it and never filled it. I am wondering if I should just go ahead and fill it and start back on humira. The biggest problem I am having is with this new medical center and my insurance which is Cigna. The medical center is billing all wrong and making a mess. They caused me to miss my last appnt cause I needed a financial clearance slip!!!! I am so digusted with the whole situation. I was hoping that by meeting the RA Nurse Practitioner for my steriod injections into my hips that she could answer a lot of questions about this stupid doc I saw. The only good thing is that this doc is leaving...so maybe the new doc will be better. If not I have to find a way to go 100 miles to get to the next group of docs that accept my ins. I don't think moving to Texas would help. The whole country is a mess when it comes to healthcare. Toni
Guest guest
I agree that moving to Texas isn't a good idea except that there is no state tax. Whenever I see a newspaper article about anything the state is providing it's residents, it's always at the bottom of the list of states helping folks. But then, every state or country has it's drawbacks. Dennis in Eastexas " It's not Rocket Surgery " [ ] Re: No humira for this chick:( > I don't think moving to Texas would help. Guest guest
Toni, I hope the new doctor will be a good one, so you don't have to travel so far. I am going to find out if there is a clinical study near me. It is hard to find a RA doctor that is a GOOD one. If you do, hang on to them. Good luck, Tawny
Guest guest
You are right....Texas is no better.....I live in Texas...so I speak from experience.....I haven't taken meds in quite some time because even with my insurance, it is hard to buy them. So right now I live on pain pills....lol > > TAwny, > The only meds I am on so far is Lodine XL. Which is an NSAID that is it. I > was looking and I found a prescription for Humira.
