Guest guest
Kim, Glad to hear that progress is being made. Your rheumatologist is probably thinking it may be ankylosing spondylitis; however, to have both ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis is unusual. Are you RF positive? Good luck quitting smoking! That will really help your health big time. Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Guest guest
Kim, Glad to hear things are going in a more positive direction for you. I don't know you but you sound real excited in your email. I am so glad to hear you are doing well with stopping smoking. I think you will feel a lot better in the long run. (I used to smoke) For myself I know I have better days when I feel like I have some control over what is happening in my life. > > Hi to All! > I went to my Rheumy on Friday . Guest guest
Dear Kim, Sometimes it takes a push from the doctor to do something about our health you already knew you needed to do. That happened to me two years ago when my doctor told me I was obese!! I have lost 46lbs so far. Good luck with quitting. You will be glad you did. I pray that things will go well for you!! Meredith in Canada I also found out why he wasn't treating me for RA. He wants me to quit smoking first. So I came home after that appointment sobbing because of the possible new diagnosis. Told my husband I was going to quit smoking and change my life drastically. So on monday I went to my first PT appointment for neck traction. Went without smoking all day. Started walking yesterday and felt so good after that. I am on day #3 smoke free and feeling pretty good. It's nice to have something going on in my life that I can control for a change! Have a great day! Kim in Caldwell, TX
Guest guest
Kim, Congratulations on 3 days of not smoking. Please don't give in to the urge when it hits you. Fight it and fight it hard and you will be successful. I am 9 yrs smoke free. The hardest days when I first quit were the fourth day and the 21st day, I don't know why, but they were tough days. I had made my mind up to quit and I wasn't about to waste 21 days smoke free or even the three days of not smoking, just to have that one cigarette. I knew that wouldn't work, because your hooked all over again. As hard as it is, you have to stay smoke free. It was tough, but I was determined not to smoke. For me after the 21st day, it was very easy not to smoke, I just didn't think of it, the craving was gone. However, I must admit that on occasion I sure got the urge, being around people who smoked or watching an old movie in which they smoked or just the distant smell of smoke made me want a cigarette, I didn't give in and soon the smell became nauseous to me and to this day I can't stand the smell, and movies in which they smoke no longer give me the urge. Guest guest
There's always a silver lining, Kim. It's just hard to find it sometimes. It's good to hear you're progressing in your quest to quit smoking. I did it almost 20 years ago and haven't regretted it since, and haven't been tempted, either. I hope it continues to go well with you, it'll pay you for the rest of your life. It's so nice to walk outside in the morning, take a deep breath, and not break into a half-hour coughing fit! Guest guest
Congratulations, Kim! I quit smoking on March 6, 1994, so I know how hard it is. You are to be commended. You have gone three days without smoking, so you have proved to yourself and the world that you can do it! You go, girl! Guest guest
Thank you! I need to lose weight as well. In fact that was my crutch to not quit smoking. I always said I couldn't afford to gain weight. I just hope I turn all the exercising into a smaller me. Boy I'm sore this morning. Guest guest
I know what you mean about watching someone on TV smoking, it does signal your brain to light up. And that's the wierdest thing I am experiecing with quiting . Is every once in awhile my brain sends an alarm that I need a smoke break. Believe me, I wouldn't give in at this point. There are no smokes here. I threw everything away. Made sure there were none in the cars. And I live to far away from town to go get any either. I can't believe I walked around smelling like that. My hair actually smells like shampoo all day long! What did you do to help change your habit?
