I take mine to the local county health department. They dispose of it

and give you a new one for free.

Kate,

I used to live in the state of Indiana and once a quarter they would have a

hazardous waste recycling day. We would save our needles in coffee cans with

the lid and get rid of them then. Now I live in PA and my area does not offer

such a thing. Usually I just clip the needle off and throw the syringe in the

trash. The clipped needles I usually just save in a little sealed jar (I

used baby food jars for a long time). My 16 year old is diabetic so we go

through a lot of needles. Most hospitals will also sell you a sharps container.

The

Children's Hospital here charges $6.

I just got my Enbrel refilled by Walgreens mail order. My last order had been

from Ascend mail order in ME. They included a sharps container. Walgreens does

not. I think that's sort of scandalous b/c they charged my insurance more than

$3600 for a 3 month supply and they can't throw in a $.15 sharp container?

Do those of you on injectables buy sharps containers or improvise using

something else? Advice? Thanks, Kate

If you go to the humira or enbrel sites they will send you a free sharps

container

and other goodies.

Sometimes when the people at Medco set up the delivery of my Enbrel,

they will ask if I need a sharps container.

I am addicted to Folger's cafe latte, and it comes in a plastic

container that is ideal for a sharps container.
