Guest guest
Hi Everyone I've been reading your messages for a few days and hope you can help. I haven't been dx as having RA yet, but I saw a Rumey Dr. and had labs done. The labs came back showing inflammation. I'm not sure what the numbers were. He then had me take an MRI of my hand. That came back normal. Now he has me on Prednisone (10mg). I'm feeling less pain and could this possibly be helping my fatigue? Also, is it normal with RA for the tops of my hands, between my knuckles and toward my fingers to be swollen? Thanks for any help. --------------------------------- Stay in the know. Guest guest
Hi : I hope that the doctor will be able to pinpoint a diagnosis for you soon, sometimes it takes a while to weed out one autoimmune disease from another. The Prednisone could be helping with your fatigue too. It's a wonder drug for me with pain and inflammation, and also will cause me to have more energy, but kind of a buzzy, very intense, crabby kind of energy lol. I have taken it on and off - like I said, it is a great drug - but, if possible, you do want to limit how much you take and how long, becaue of side effects. However, I can also say that there are those who have decided that the risks outweigh the benefits to their lives, and take it for years to get a quality of life that they would not have without the drug. As far as your hand swelling, yes, that is where RA causes swelling. In the tops of your hands in the big knuckes on the top of the hand, and down into the second joint of the fingers. So, yes, that definately sounds like RA swelling. I am glad that your pain is less, and hopefully your doctor will come to a diangosis quickly, and be able to start you on a proper treatment program. Prednisone only masks the RA and does not treat the disease, so there are other meds you need to be put on, and as soon as possible if it is RA. Take care - hang in there - Kathe in CA --- Baacke <labb311@...> wrote: > Hi Everyone > > I've been reading your messages for a few days and > hope you can help.
