Guest guest
The oral dose of resveratrol in the study below is 50 mg/kilo body weight. Resveratrol tabs (e.g. Nature´s Way) typically come in 37.5 mg doses, meant to take two a day. That´s roughly one mg/kilo of body weight for humans, i.e. one 50th the dose of the study. I have a faint recollection of warnings against superdoses of resveratrol, apart from the fact that this would be very costly. Does this mean that the study is only of academic interest - or might it still be interesting to pop a tiny 1mg/kilo dose a day? // Ulf Posted by Vornan: Arch Pharm Res. 2008 Jan;31(1):83-7.trans-Resveratrol relaxes the corpus cavernosum ex vivo and enhancestestosterone levels and sperm quality in vivo.Shin S, Jeon JH, Park D,Jang MJ, Choi JH, Choi BH, Joo SS, Nahm SS, Kim JC, Kim YB.College of Veterinary Medicine, Chungbuk National University,Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, Chungbuk 361-763, Korea. We examined the effects of trans-resveratrol on male reproductivefunctions; ex-vivo penile erection and in-vivo sperm counts and quality. For the ex-vivo study, the relaxation effects of resveratrol on isolatedNew Zealand white rabbit corpus cavernosum, precontracted byphenylephrine (5x10(-5) M) were measured. The in-vivo study measuredreproductive organ weights, blood testosterone levels, testicularhistopathology, sperm counts, as well as the epididymal sperm motilityand deformity of male ICR mice given an oral dose of resveratrol (50 mg/kg) for 28 days. Resveratrol elicited a concentration-dependent relaxingeffect on corpus cavernosum, leading to a median effective concentration(EC50) of 0.29 mg/mL. Repeated treatment with resveratrol (50 mg/kg) didnot cause an increase in body weight, reproductive organ weight ortesticular microscopic findings; however, resveratrol did elicit anincrease in blood testosterone concentration, testicular sperm countsand epididymal sperm motility by 51.6%, 15.8% and 23.3%, respectively, without influence on sperm deformity. In conclusion, we propose thatresveratrol has a positive effect on male reproductive function bytriggering a penile erection, as well as enhancing blood testosteronelevels, testicular sperm counts, and epididymal sperm motility. Guest guest
You can get high dose resveratrol here (kinda expensive though): http://www.myrevgenetics.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=2 & Click=29 I'm not sure of the benefits of taking, say, 50 mg/day. You could try it and see if you get any subjective improvements. Vornan >> > The oral dose of resveratrol in the study below is 50 mg/kilo body weight. Guest guest
I just bought 120 100mg capsules of resveratrol at whole foods for about $40. I figured I'd give this a shot since I had my Testosterone checked last Thursday and I'm scheduled to have it taken again in a couple months. The recommended dose on the bottle (Pomology Brand) is 200-400mg per day, but I'm going to round up and make it an even 1g per day (10 capsules). 1g per day is still only 1/5th the dose used on the mice in the study, but taking 5g per day seems a little insane/costly. The cost for 1g/day will be less than $4 per day, which is about the cost of a starbucks beverage so I figure it's relatively cheap if I receive any kind of positive results. If I don't have any negative side effects I'll keep taking resveratrol until my next Testosterone test, two months from now, and I'll be able to see if there are any hormonal benefits. In the meanwhile I'll keep you all up to date if I notice any changes. Does anyone know if it would make a difference to take all 10 capsules at once, or 5 caps 2x per day? After a meal? With other vitamin supplements, fish oil, etc... - > > > > > > > > > > > > The oral dose of resveratrol in the study below is 50 mg/kilo body > > > weight.
