Guest guest
Hi : Yes, I have had difficulty at times with swallowing. It's like I really have to think about it before I can swallow and attempt a few times before I am able to swallow - really strange. I think somehow it does go along with RA ( or a, help?). I was on Plaquenil for almost 2-1/2 years when first dx and had no problems at all with it. This swallowing stuff has just started in the past year or so. I have no other throat problems, and it only happens once in a while, so I just deal with it. I am sorry to hear that your daughter's husband will be going to Afghanistan for a year, but please tell her that I truly do appreciate him and every other soldier out there who is serving in the military, and defending our right to freedom and safeguarding this country, and bringing freedom to other people. My husband is from Iran and I know from him how very toxic and hateful Saddam's regieme, the Afgan regeime, and finally the Iranian government is to their own people. He is so very happy to be an American citizen, and be a be blessed to be living here, but and fears daily for his family still in Iran. My prayers will be with you and your daughter's family, and especially her husband that he return to her safely. Guest guest
I've been having the non-swallowing issue myself, for the last couple or few years. I just thought it was part of growing old or something, certainly not my meds. I don't take Plaquenil, so it must be related to something else, maybe just a side effect of RA, as you suggest. If I have something to swallow, like a sip of water, I do ok. But with a normal amount saliva, I forget how and when I finally do, it can be uncomfortable. Maybe it's contagious!
