Guest guest
I hope you all take this in the manner that it's meant, but listening to all of you about the weather is really amusing. Not amusing that you are uncomfortable by any means, but evidently you don't know " HOT " . Today it is expected to be 107 here, which is normal for us. Back in June it was hot: 118, then it was a bit too much.......... but anything under 110 is bearable, after that it doesn't matter much how high it gets, hot is hot ! I am REALLY joking about your heat, I am sure you are all miserable but it must be the humidity. We have had some humidity here for a few days and it truly is uncomfortable, so I'm sorry that you are all suffering. Come to Arizona, it's hot, but like we always say at least it's " dry " ........... kind of like your oven ! Guest guest
Before I retired I worked outside much of the time. One day the mercury reached 122 degrees in Phoenix and we all tried to stay in the shade at work. One wag was heard to say, " It is 122 degrees but you really need to factor in the Wind Chill! " The breeze was blowing about 5 MPH so we all felt much cooler then. What is the wind chill in Texas? 2604 " When you become senile, you won't know it. Guest guest
Patsy: Yes, there is a huge difference between Texas heat and Arizona heat. As you said, AZ heat is dry. Texas heat is wet and miserable. There is so much moisture in the air, when you walk out of an air-conditioned building, you almost can't breathe. Our heat index is a much better indicator of just how hot it is rather than our actual temperature. It might be 102 here, but the heat index is 110, for example. Either way, it's hot, hot, hot! Although I would really not compare the two (TX & AZ). Like you say, once you're hot - you're miserable regardless of what " type " of heat it is. We're all just praying for a cool front! Guest guest
, the humidity is bad even here around the Dallas area. Guest guest
Not long ago I asked them did they go up on their rates again. My son's electric bill usually runs more than $300 in the summer. Guest guest
That's right...the weather guy only says " cool " front - NOT " cold " front. And cool front means your heat index drops from 110 to 105!
