Guest guest
OK so my rummy-rheumy said he was calling my insurance for pre authorization for Humira. I have ChampVA and Medicare. My ChampVA has a mail med part so I did not do a Medicare med part. ChampVA allows me to get meds free is I do thru mail, altho if I go to certain pharmacies (Like KMart is the only one I can think of here) then I pay like 20-25% of the med cost. I called my med by mail place and they told me they have Humira, I do not remember now, they also have enbrel and they might have said one of them I have to mix if they send it? Ayway my doc said he was going to call my insurance. I do not know who he did call or what he discussed- I do know his office has said they do not bill supplental insurance or second insurance....but today I got a form for Humira support application? And it sounds like he is trying to sign me up for Med assistance for Humira from ABbot? He did not include a letter in heree to me explaining anything, but he did send a 3 page form that he filled out most of the info on. I do not think if I have meds by mail that I can apply for med assistance from ABbot. I am not sure what he is doing, and not even sure now if I wanna call him and ask him. UG! Guest guest
Hi Dreamer, Sounds like Humira may not be covered by either insurance plan Champ/VA nor Medi Part D. If it's not on their formulary.(list of covered meds) then they won't pay for it. I understand that it is very expensive. I am on Medi Part D, but have assigned my coverage over to a HMO. They cover all drugs that Medi Part D covers. I looked Humira up on their formulary and it is not covered, Enbrel is with prior authorization, but not Humira. Sounds like your Rheumy has applied to Abbot for free Humira and that is great. Hope you can get it. Guest guest
I have no idea if it is covered by Medicare part D cuz I did not sign up for Medicare part D becuz I have the free Meds by Mail thru my ChampVA. and what my meds by mail does not have, I can still get from a pharmacy if I pay 25%. I myself called my meds by mail 2 weeks ago when my doc asked me which I wanted to try- Remicaide, Enbel or Humira. My meds by mail said they cover all 3, with no preauthorization, just send them the Rx. My meds by mail is a government program, (nad I also do have Medicare A & I doubt thtat since I have the meds by mail, that Abbot is going to send me Humira. -- becuz my meds by mail DOES cover the Humira, 100% at no cost to me. - In , linda yeakel <lindayeakel@...> wrote: > > Hi Dreamer, Sounds like Humira may not be covered by either insurance plan Champ/VA nor Medi Part D.
