Guest guest
Hey Lynn, Contact a reputable riding stable, and explain your situation to them. You can take a 1/2 hr riding lesson (going rate around here is $25-$40/hr). It is a good form of low impact exercise, and also works on your balance. You can request to just walk if you need to and if it makes you more comfortable ask for sidewalkers. I have worked for therapeutic riding centers and have 2 very handicapped kids that I coach for special olympics, and I guarantee you that even the most severe of handicapped can ride a horse. Horses are very perceptive of how we feel, and even the spunkiest of horses will settle down if the rider needs them to. Even grooming a horse can be a good workout (and therapeutic too!) If nothing else it would be good for your spirit. If you are afraid that you won't be able to get on... Just ask for a short horse! Let me know if you are interested or need any more advice! > > YOU ARE SO LUCKEY TO HAVE THOSE HORSES AND TO BE ABLE TO RIDE THEM AND CARE FOR > THEM -IT HAS TO BE VERY THERAPUTIC,,,,,,, > OK I HAVE A DOG----I GOT HER 1 MONTH BEFORE I GOT SICK--SHE IS YORKIE MIX NAMED > YOKO--I FELT BAD WHEN I GOT SICK THAT MAYBE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO TAKE CARE OF > HER THE WAY I PLANNED--------SHE HAS NO TRAINING YET SHE IS MY CONSTANT > COMPANION AND GET THIS---SHE FEELS MY PAIN--WHEREVER I HURT SHE LIES AGAINST > IT---MY FEET--MY BACK--EVEN NEXT TO MY HEAD---IF I FALL SHE GOES FOR HELP--EVEN > AS FAR AS A NEIGHBORS HOUSE AND BARKS AT THEIR DOOR TIL THEY COME-- EVERYONE IN > MY NEIGHBORHOOD IS AMAZED BY HER BEHAVIOR---IF I AM CRYING SHE LIES RIGHT NEXT > TO ME VERY STILL AND EVENTUALLY USES HER NOSE TO START PUSHING UP UNDER MY ARMS > AND LEGS TO GET ME UP--SHE IS FRIENDLY TO EVERYONE BUT GOD HELP THE PERSON WHO > TOUCHES ME--EVEN IF SOMEONE GOES TO GIVE ME A HUG SHE GETS BETWEEN US AND > BARKS. > I HAVE ALWAYS HAD DOGS BUT NEVER ONE LIKE THIS--SHE IS SUCH A HELP TO ME--WE DO > EVERYTHING TOGETHER--SLEEP-EAT-ITS FASCINATING....ANYONE ELSE HAVE A PET LIKE > THIS??....LYNN >
Guest guest
Hi, I'm going to abandon all attempts to be serious and be silly here if I may... Dewey, that would be my wonder woofer has a few things to say. WOOF!!! WOOF! Yoko! Even though you are small enough to be a snack for me cause I weigh 130 pounds. I won't eat you. It sounds like you are a wonderful woofer like me and I am glad your mommy has you in her life. Isn't it wonderful to be able to provide comfort to our human companions? They do need us so much. I do the same thing you do, laying on or near where Yan hurts when he is in pain. Well, you sound like a wonderful doggie and I'd like to invite you into the Wonder Woofers Club for all us wonder woofers in the world. And, because you are such a wonderful friend to Ms. Lynn, I will make you an honorary CurlyTail, one of the highest honors in dogdom... If you have a real CurlyTail then you can be a CurlyTail but I don't think your breed does? If you do, I am sorry I didn't know that. Oh well, Yanosz wants the puter back... Woofs and Curly Tail Waggles! Dewey *** Ok, silliness over. Yes, my Dewey is exactly like that. And, he was even like that before I trained him as my service dog. I'm glad you have your pup in your life. What a treasure she must be. Sorry for the moment of silliness, I just couldn't resist. Yanosz and Dewey CurlyTail, Kin of the CurlyTails with his Really, Wheely, Whirly, Curly Tail!
