Guest guest
http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6630507/fulltext.html " The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia. " There are countless theory's about SSRI's causing " chemical imbalances " in various ways. No doubt that in part, they have relevance, e.g. causing high histamine levels etc.. But from the research I've seen, SSRI's and a-typical anti-psychotics do damage in other significant significant ways. They cut off oxygen to the brain causing oxidative stress and neuronal damage and cell death. They lower the seizure threshold causing some people to have epilepsy, as well as other neurological disorders. So I believe that all injury's resulting from psych drugs are iatrogenic neurological disorders/injury's. Others theory's rely heavily on hormone imbalance, but since the nervous system is what regulates hormone balance and these drugs are created to disrupt the nervous system and result in those hormone imbalances, I focus my research on the nervous system. It appears from the information contained in US Patent 6630507 that cannabis crosses the blood brain barrier, has anti-oxidant action, and increases oxygen transport in the brain. The US Patent also indicates that there is therapeutic benefit during and after the injury's occur. While this Patent doesn't name psychiatric drugs as the source of the injury's, the actual injury's and symptoms that have been studied are closely related. I hope that more research will be done and we will recover from this nightmare.
