Anybody here with experience with baker's cyst's? I just had my knee

tapped again. this is the third time in about 5 years. It seems that

the fluid in my knee pushes out the back then ruptures and runs down my

calf causing severe pain. Any wat to stop from getting these?

susan,

I had a Baker's cyst last summer and know what you mean by severe pain. I

didn't realise i had it until on my way home from a holiday with my youth group

my leg and foot doubled in size. Had an emergency admittance to hospital 4 days

later with a suspected blood clot. After a ultra sound i was told it was a

Baker's cyst that had ruptured. A nursing friend of mine said it was unlikely i

would get rid of these but on the pther hand said it wasn't definate i'd get one

again. Not sure how much of this is true as i haven't had it confirmed by the

hospital. Hope you soon get yours resolved - permanently.

After multiple injections of cortisone and attempts to get the fluid out I

had my Baker's Cyst removed in 99 when it caused my knee to lock up. This

happened when I was driving so I wasn't going to have anymore fooling

around!

When I had the MRI the cyst was the size of an orange. They removed it,

supposively tightened up the area that they fluid was collecting and haven't

had it return. To my understanding though a good number of Baker's Cysts

come back.

is better and the swelling down but it still hurts in the calf where

the fluid settled. I see the dr. again on Fri.
