Hi all,

Wednesday was a routine walk/BART commute, 5 miles, but I did do some run/walk

segments. This morning I was getting ready to do a STS disk 8, but now I see

that there's a huge problem with BART due to a fire, so I'm going to have to

leave early. I'll do a total body strength tomorrow.

I have to get this down " on paper " first:

So, I've been falling into my old, unhealthy evening routine. Due to my long

commute, I don't get home until 7:30 or so. The Blue Sofa is the devil. It's too

easy to just hit the sofa and watch TV, and zone out on Facebook. DH has snacks

out on the coffee table, and I lose track of how much I eat. I'm racking up some

extra calories on a regular basis, and I lose track of how much. I deceive

myself into thinking that I can indulge because I worked out. Wrong.

It occurred to me that if I played guitar in the evening instead of plopping

down on that Blue Sofa, I'd be in another room away from that coffee table. I

wouldn't be tempted to snack. So, I'm calling this the Guitar Diet.

I've been trying to prune my activities by snipping away at damaging and

distracting routines and focusing on the things that matter to me: direct

communication with my friends and family, more time to participate here, time

for creative outlets, and other more productive and health-promoting activities.

BTW, if you're annoyed with Facebook, I strongly encourage killing it. What a

relief. I like phones and email better.
