Guest guest
Hi Tess, I know how you feel I also take quite a few meds. When I went on Medi Part D my pharmcy told me to ask my doctor to prescribe my meds for 90 days and that my HMO would pay for 90 days at a time. (I assigned my Medi Part D over to a HMO) That way I will only have to pay $1.00 for a 90 day supply per med, otherwise I only pay $3.00 per med. It is such a small difference, but it helps when I take 8 different meds. It does add up and with the cost of everything going up, except our income any little savings helps. I hope the info I gave earlier does help others who are having the same difficulty as we are trying to make ends meet and deal with RA all at the same time. But with 12 or so meds at varying co pays, and a couple drugs that are not covered, I cannot escape the $30-$60 a month out put. But thank you for your help. Love... Guest guest
Hi Tess, Is the Medicare Part D Prescription coverage different in each state? Do you have an HMO that you have assigned your coverage over to? My HMO does allow for a 90 day med supply. I wonder why it is different where you live than where I Live. I live in California. Guest guest
Hi Tess, I am doing the mail order for medicine. You have to be very careful. On March 27 I sent for my medicine, they cashed the check on April 4. After many phone calls and arguments, lies on their part I got my medicine on May 2. I was out of blood pressure and thyroid medicine for almost two weeks. I did the pharmacy 10 supply and ran out of that. When I sent for my medicine I still had a two week supply. If I stay with them I will be on the phone inquiring about the shipment from the day the check is cashed. They tried to tell me, they never got the order until April 14. That was until I explained that they had cashed the check on April 4th. They lied so bad to me so many times. I now have the names of managers that I can annoy the next time. The only reason I am staying with them is it is so cheap for me. I am on such a strict budget that the program really helps. Be careful if you go the mail route. Guest guest
Hi Tess, I understand what you are saying. Before Medi Part D came into force I was in the same boat as you. I live in California and we have Medi-cal fpr low income folks such as myself. Although, I had an HMO that did provide drug coverage all of my meds were monitored though Medi-cal. I was only allowed 6 meds a month or I would have to pay a large co-pay. Well some of us take more than 6 meds a month. And when you need something that is not on-going such as an antibiotic you had to wait for approval. Go figure your sick and have to wait several days for the drug that will make you well. So you get sicker and end up in the emergency room which cost the state a whole lot more than what an antibiotic would have cost in the first place. I have not used a mail order service for my meds. I just am not sure about doing so. This is of course only for those on Medicaid, which means only the poor. So, they have decided that prescriptions can only be for 30 days at a time. The one exception is if you agree to have an out of state rx by mail service...then you can get 90 days at a time. However, I have heard varying degrees of pleasure/displeasure with that service, and makes it complicated to get prescriptions you might not ordinarily get...like something for an immediate infection. I have considerate the rx by mail plan...may think it over again. Hugs... Tess Re: [ ] ~Medicare Part D & SS Assistance Hi Tess, Is the Medicare Part D Prescription coverage different in each state?
