Guest guest
my daughter, who is now nine, started loosing her hair in patches about the size of a quater when she was about 3 yrs. old. It would always grow back slowly, but it happens every year. I think that it was stress, since I took her out of school she has not lost anymore patches. Guest guest
traci no, no bald spots. he has very fine hair, esp on top. the back also is thicker on him. i usually buzz cut it in the back. but at 3 1/2 he should have more hair. i have seen children just born with thicker hair than he has now. i'm wondering too if his bald younger brother (1 1/2) also has the same defiency. he won't need a hair cut until after 2. the doctor said it is usually a genetic defiency. nails are fine. no spotting or brittleness. actually very strong nails. lori

Guest guest
Although my daughter, who is being treated for hypothyroid, did not loose a tremendous amount of hair, it is a classic sign of thyroid disfunction. You might want to take a look at that, just as an aside. regards, n

Guest guest
Hi , Hair growth really shouldn't be effected much, if at all. My daughter wore three bands and her hair grew fine. I even had to put a little pony tail out the top when she got older b/c it was so long. SHe had a bald spot from sleeping on her back before being banded and even this eventually grew in while she was banded. , mom to Hannah, DOCgrad Cape Cod, Ma http://hannahsnoggin.typepad.com --- In Plagiocephaly , " bgross81 " <bgross81@y...> wrote: > > I was wondering, will the docband cause your babies hair to fall > out, or bald spots? Guest guest
Hi , My son's hair has been growing while in the Starband. I've actually had to trim some longer pieces off of the sides, back, and bangs--except the little mohawk that he was born with--I think it's cute when his bangs hang out over the top of the band. Also, the helmet has had the added benefit of hiding that I made his bangs uneven--oops :-) Sunnyvale, CA Plagio/brachy/Starband > > I was wondering, will the docband cause your babies hair to fall > out, or bald spots? Guest guest
, it didn't have any impact on na's hair. I have heard some kids loose a little hair. However, it comes back once treatment is over. Other kids' hair grows like weeds mom to na DOC grad Tort Resolved South Carolina www.thefilyaws.combgross81 <bgross81@...> wrote: I was wondering, will the docband cause your babies hair to fall out, or bald spots? I felt generally ill on it. Decided to go with azerothoprine (sp) instead. No problems.. Pris
Guest guest
> As for my hair? It began to fall out after my 3rd child, and it began to fall out even worse after starting mtx. Again my old rheumy said it had nothing to do with mtx. My gyne said it was simply the extra hair I had grown while preg with last child. > I am not sure who to believe or what to think. I had extremely very very thick hair, and it was wavy and now more than half of it is gone. I do not think it is genetics, my mother and father both continued to have very very thick full heads of hair and so did their parents and siblings. I miss my hair. :-( I'm the same way. I can still fake it with my hair, it looks semi-thick and wavy, albeit pretty gray, but it's only fluffy, not thick. That was one of few vanities and I miss it, too
Guest guest
You can get this shampoo and it will help. I was losing mine and it works. It is Nioxin. It is a little expensive but you will see results in a couple of weeks. You have to wash your hair everyday. But within a couple of weeks you will see little stragly hairs popping up. I was thrilled. Hi, everyone I know that I have been gone for a while. I just had some personal things to work out. I have been trying to catch up a little. Welcome to all the new people. This is a wornderful site with a lot of good info. Beth in AR --- <kyrik@...> wrote: > > As for my hair? Guest guest
A lot of babies, banded or not, tend to lose the baby hair that they are born with. So, with a banded baby it is difficult to say if the hair loss is just natural hair loss or because of the band. My son had a ton of hair as well and it grew a ton while he was in the band, he never lost any of it. We actually had to get his hair cut because it was so obnoxious hanging out the side and bottom of the band. Molly Novato, California Nicolas, 3, tort & plagio, STARband (CIRS Oakland) 4/24/06-9/12/06, Graduate! , 6 , 9 hair My son has been wearing his Boston Band for a little over a month. We have had improvement and I am very pleased, however I am worried that hair on certain parts of his head are either falling out of thinning. My son has VERY thick curly hair. Of course it has still not all grown in yet and I am thinking that maybe certain areas look really thin as compared the the thicker areas. Has anyone experienced this?
