Guest guest Posted June 12, 2012 Report Share Posted June 12, 2012 >I loved it and have thought about trying > to get back in but technology has changed so much since I quit to > stay home with my kids 14 years ago that it would be hard to get > back in this has been exactly my problem too. my career was in IT for a bank but after 10 years they wanted me to move to the toronto area (from much smaller stratford), but i declined for various reasons. so, i decided to get married and have kids and gave up my career. i will never know if i made the right decision, but sometimes i really wonder. after 10 years of SAHM, i tried to get back in but i needed so many certifications that i would have had to re-do my college education all over again! LOL. by the time i finished i could be too old to hire. i suppose i could have tried harder, but i also wasnt sure if i wanted to go back to the high-powered, fast-paced, high-pressure, long-houred, suit-wearing corporate world either, especially with having a family. but the $$$ !! omg. i admit that i feel embarrassed when im in the deli and have to serve people who were my peers and bosses from when i worked in IT (some of them still work there). :*carolyn.
