Guest guest
I'd like to put in a good word for the old fashioned sling psychrometer. It can be purchased with alcohol thermometers for about $40-45. I trust it more than my electronic IAQ meter when it comes to relative humidity. In case you have not seen one, it has one dry and one wet thermometer and a gauge on the unit to convert to relative humidity. Pamela A. Can anyone provide recommendations for a low cost meter? One that seems to be a good choice from internet comparisons is the Martel C-315 Mini Humidity/Temp Meter which runs for $110. Guest guest
Dear Colleagues: I would like to point a major potential problem with sling pyschrometers: Swinging a glass device containing mercury in spaces occupied by people sounds like to much of a risk of harm due to potential breakage and the ensuing mercury cleanup to justify this approach. Just my perspective. W. Guest guest
Rereading Pamela's posting I see she mentions thermometers that contain alcohol and NOT mercury. I just I was just too quick to jump in. What a fool I am. Guest guest
No problem! I am sure they are still available with mercury so those should surely be avoided as you mentioned. Guest guest
I used to have a psychrometer that used an internal, battery operated fan, so that slinging was not an issue. Not as fun, but much less intrusive and less likely to " put someone's eye out, as my grandmother was found of saying. ********************************************************************** This e-mail transmission and any attachments that accompany it may contain information that is privileged, confidential or otherwise exempt from disclosure under applicable law and is intended solely for the use of the individual(s) to whom it was intended to be addressed.
