Guest guest
I have no idea whether injectable Mtx helps with the pain any _faster_ than the oral type... I haven't heard that. I have heard that it can be more effective, and that it has less side effects for some people. As far as cost is concerned, it's cheaper than the pills. I paid just over $10 for a month's worth of Mtx, which was less than my co- pay would have been. The needles and syringes set me back another $30, I think, but that was for 100 of each. Since I only take it once a week, that's almost a 2 year supply. My doc said that some people who want to take it orally, but can't afford the pills, by the injectable solution and drink it. She says that it works just the same as the pills if taken that way. It can be taken as IM or subcutaneous injections. She has me doing IM, but I didn't think to ask why, or whether there were advantages to one over the other. > > Hi all, > I have been reading all of the emails regarding the side effects of oral vs. shots of MTX. Currently I am taking 15mg orally of mtx. The side effects are once again beginning to affect my daily living. I am due to see my dr Monday and plan to ask about the shots instead. Are they really better? I feel like the side effects right now are just as bad as the RA. My hands and wrists feel like they are slowly getting worse, will the shots get in my system faster and therefore ease the pain quicker? Last note, I am without insurance so I also need to know the difference in cost. Any one have any ideas? Thanks again for being my support group. Guest guest
actually with my insurance, i pay $10.00 month for the mtx pills and now i started ordering through express-scripts which is a mail order company and i pay two copays of $10.00 each for a three month supply so it works out as even less. i guess cost depends upon coverage . . . bon/boys > > > > Hi all, > > I have been reading all of the emails regarding the side effects > of oral vs. shots of MTX.
